BIG NEWS!
At the heart of our recently opened D Ranch Preserve, a special vision is taking shape:
The ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ต ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ! โจ๐ฑ
Check it out at the ๐ link in our bio!
The nature center will be more than a building - it will be a ๐ด๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐น๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฎ and a ๐ด๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐๐.
Once completed, the D Ranch Nature Center will span roughly 8,000 square feet across 2 floors and include a wrap around porch, inviting all who visit to bask in the beauty of the preserve.
Our team aims to open the nature center for you in 2027โฆ and ๐๐ฒโ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ท๐ผ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ธ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ผ๐ณ๐ณ ๐ฃ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ญ!
To break ground, we need to close a gap of $400,000. But thereโs good news! The @big_nova_foundation is ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ด๐ถ๐ณ๐๐ to help make the nature center a reality. That means $1 becomes $2, $100 becomes $200โฆ you see the vision.
Every dollar contributed will make this dream a reality - make these 4 walls a ๐ต๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ.
Plus, when you give today at any amount, youโll become part of our ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐น๐ฒ - the first friends to help make the Nature Center come alive! Those in the Seedling Circle will have their name inside the nature center when it opens.
The D Ranch Nature Center will be a home for all of us, and we canโt wait to share this magical place with you.
Special shoutout to those making this project possible: The Volusia County ECHO Program, the Big Nova Foundation, The Spurlino Foundation, andโฆ ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ!

HUGE NEWS:
Weโve expanded ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ฉ๐ง๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐๐ง๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฉ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ , adding more safe & permanently protected land for the critically endangered ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.
With only 120-230 FL panthers left in the world โ all right here in Florida โ every acre counts. Their biggest threats? Overdevelopment and habitat loss. Last year alone, we lost 36 panthers.
But just last month, we came ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ-๐๐ผ-๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฎ ๐๐น๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ while out exploring this newly protected land in Fakahatchee โ a powerful, once-in-a-lifetime reminder of why this work matters. Every acre we save means more room to roam for one of the worldโs rarest mammals.
Beyond Florida panthers, Fakahatchee is home to countless other threatened & endangered species like the:
โฆ Ghost orchid
Cardinal airplant
Ribbon orchid
Itโs the ๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฝ ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ด๐น๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฒ, and we are beyond proud to grow one of Floridaโs award winning state parks โ and protect the wild heart of our state ๐
This conservation project was made possible through funding from incredible @conservationflorida supporters like you and @fl.dep Division of State Lands โ we are so grateful for your support in saving Floridaโs wild places!

Weโre heartbroken to share that a 2-3 month-old Florida panther kitten was struck and killed by a vehicle in Collier County last week. ๐
With fewer than 200 Florida panthers left on Earth, every single one matters.
Our greatest threat to them is simple: ๐๐. More people means more development, more roads, less
But we can also be their greatest ๐๐ค๐ฅ๐. Every day, our Conservation Florida team works to protect & connect the wild spaces panthers need to survive.
We need your help. Join us today as a monthly donor, and know that your donation goes directly toward protecting these panthersโ homes. Because theyโre worth protecting. ๐

From fierce mother panthers, to snuggly manatee moms, and to every mother figure in between, your dedication and love are what make Florida feel like ๐๐๐๐.
...And if you're anything like this great egret mama, you also have unending patience for our yappin', and that's impressive in itself.
Today and always, thanks for keeping the nest together!

From April through June, alligators get more active, loud, and territorial as they search for a mate. Take this couple as an example - their deep bellows and splashing are quintessential of the gator mating ritual.
Whether youโre hiking, paddling, or snapping photos near Floridaโs waters this season, keep your distance - for your safety and theirs!
Protecting their habitat means protecting the next generation of swamp babies - and all of our wild Florida neighbors.

We are thrilled to share that one of our priority bills, the We advocated all session long for this, but you made it a reality.
This story starts a year ago now with a proposed land swap of 600 acres of prime conservation land in NE Florida. Home to roseate spoonbills, bobcats, river otters, blazing star, and more. Winding trails where families bike, hike, and take in the beauty shaped by millions of years.
Nearly traded and ๐ก๐ค๐จ๐ฉ. And we only got 7 days notice.
It requires at least 30 days public notice before a proposal for sale or trade of conservation lands goes before a council.
Thank you to @senatordebbiemayfield & Representative Kendall for your leadership, and most of all - to ๐๐ผ๐, Florida. Because of you, these acres of pine flatwoods & salt marsh will stay wild, and more than 220 species have a safe place to call home.

A special legislative session has just been announced beginning May 12 to finalize Floridaโs state budget, and ๐ณ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ถ๐ ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ.
For months, weโve been in the Capitol advocating for the future of our stateโs wild places.
Floridaโs conservation success depends on strong, complementary programs to protect both natural lands and working landscapes. (RFLPP) which is vital to protecting wildlife corridors and the rural landscapes that define our state.
๐๐น๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ, one of the stateโs cornerstone land conservation programs, ๐ถ๐ ๐ฎ๐-๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ธ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐น๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ณ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ผ๐ด๐ฒ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ under one proposed budget. Florida needs both programs working together to protect the places that make this state home.
Before May 12, contact your elected officials and remind them of something every Floridian can agree on: protecting wild Florida matters.
The Florida Forever program should be funded at no less than $250 million to keep pace with our stateโs growing conservation needs. We commend the strong support of RFLPP. Together, Florida Forever and the Rural & Family Lands Protection Program protect the places that define our state. Both programs need to be fully funded.
One of the current proposals restricts money allocated to Florida Forever to the purchase of conservation easements. Florida Forever needs to be able to purchase both land in fee (outright) and conservation easements.
Thank you for standing with us to protect paradise.
