I'm really tired. Having thrown four shows in four months, working two jobs, completing my masters degree, and planning a wedding has nearly gotten me to take a long break from releasing music. But that's what I always do. Release, put my all in it for two months, then sit back for a year and do nothing. Not this year though. There's a million people just as tired as me, but working just as hard if not harder.
As tired as I am, I'm also frustrated. AI as a whole has deluded both the national and local scene. Too many artists are using AI to create cover art, generate beats, and make show fliers. Artists aren't collaborating with artists to make art, they're asking computers to do it instead. When you decide to not incorporate people into your art, you hurt the community. By hurting the community, you mislead the youth who want to join that community and contribute their reality to the mission. "Blindfold" serves as a track which tackles this frustration with artists in my community, and around the globe. It uplifts the act of creating art while also asking questions. Why do we take such cheap shortcuts? Why do we not care about our fellow artists? Why do we make excuses because of how the world treats us? Why do we let the world's ugliness turn us into worse people? Why do we project our shortcomings onto the youth and let them bleed instead of ourselves? Yet, Blindfold is really only the start of this conversation. I'll be discussing AI in my music all year, and plan on releasing an album in August that deals with this topic. An ep with
@andiekyte will also release, most likely in October. If you're following along with my releases this year, and my prior release with
@kondracki__ , feel free to share your frustrations (or disagreement) with me. It's important that we have real conversations and start to construct the framework of what community in music looks like for the future.
