After I wrote CONNIE A MEMOIR, I recorded my words for my audiobook. It was not as easy as recording narration for a short news story in a professional soundproof booth for television.
My publisher sent a team of two to my home — Producer Dennis Kao and audio engineer John Kovarek who set lots of equipment on my bathroom counter. I was a few feet away in a tiny space that was our son’s bedroom when he was a toddler.
We squeezed two weeks of work into five marathon talk days. I sipped hot water with lemon to keep my pipes working. Dennis got covid and had to scoot. In days John got covid too!
Don’t tell Maury but I was falling asleep when I recorded my chapter about Maury. Yikes, I was droning. Had to re-do.
What was most fun for me is I imitated President Nixon, Maury’s dear mother, and I mimicked my sisters too.
Wouldn’t it be awesome to receive a Grammy! Would they let me sing? Not a chance.
