This is one of my favorite personal projects ever and some of my best and craziest shooting memories to date 🤍 This series took a while to come together, logistically speaking, and only happened because everyone agreed to take on multiple roles: Connor provided their treasure trove of a wardrobe, and moved seemingly effortlessly in a freezing, howling wind. « Seemingly » being the key word here…! They are a true star and I have the deepest respect for their talent and artistry, honestly the pictures don’t fully capture the intensity of that November wind… Christine created a perfect hair texture but also welcomed us into her home, provided the best snacks, AND filmed the entire shoot, and Evgeny handled pretty much everything else, from emotional support to scouting locations with me and hauling a cart full of props and clothes through the forest and along the beach. It’s such a wonderful and special feeling to create with friends, I couldn’t be more grateful and I want to do this all the time !

This week we closed MERCURY FUR 🦋💔 When I left ABT I hoped that one day I’d get a chance to play a role I could personally relate to AND MAYBE get the chance to use my voice to play that character. Lola was more than I ever could have imagined. Playing a role like this in a time and place where gender variance is dangerous made it feel all the more urgent and meaningful. I am so grateful.

Connor Holloway, born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, is a dancer, reader, writer, producer, and content creator. Connor moved to NYC in 2013 to dance with American Ballet Theatre where they met Isabella Boylston and later launched the Webby nominated Ballerina Book Club in partnership with ALL ARTS in 2020.
In the spirit of the New York International Antiquarian Book Fair, we asked Connor: If you could own any antiquarian book, manuscript or artifact in the world, what would it be, and why?"
They said: "Lately, I’ve been into reading scripts and screenplays and I’m not sure if this is even a thing, but I think acquiring an actor’s copy would be amazing. Imagine how amazing Kate Winslet’s marked up script from something like Titanic would be. Or even Heath Ledger from a movie like The Joker, or who am I kidding, 10 Things I Hate About You."
