Not every child entering foster care has a place waiting for them nearby. When homes aren’t available, kids can be sent far from their community - or sometimes spend nights in shelters, hospitals, or DSS offices. Every child deserves somewhere safe to land. That’s why CFK recruits and supports foster families who are willing to say “yes” when it matters most. Curious about fostering? We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of our grant partners @cocacolaconsolidated , @forothers , and @providence_baptist_clt . Their support helps CFK continue showing up for vulnerable kids in our community. These grants are helping strengthen the ways we come alongside older youth experiencing foster care, while also providing holistic support and encouragement to frontline child welfare workers and advocates. A mentor couple in CFK’s Mentor Match program walked alongside their mentee as he applied to colleges, helping him navigate essays, deadlines, and all the small but meaningful moments in between. This year, he got in. 🎉 As they reflected on the journey, they shared: “You don’t need all the answers. Just show up and God will take care of the rest… the breakthroughs may come quickly or they may take years, but they will come.” During Foster Care Awareness Month, we’re reminded that a few consistent hours each month can make a lasting impact in the life of a youth experiencing foster care. Interested in learning more about mentoring? Join us for CFK’s Next Steps info session on Sep 1 and explore ways to get involved at cfknc.org/nextsteps #fostercareawarenessmonth #youthmentor #mentormatch

Motherhood comes in many forms: biological, foster, kinship, adoptive, step, single, grieving, and so many more. This Mother’s Day, CFK is sending single foster moms a little something for themselves, to remind them that their unconditional love and daily pouring out for others is seen and deeply appreciated. 🌸 #itsgoodtoreceive #fostermom #everyonecandosomething

Foster parents provide more than a home - they provide stability, consistency, and care during some of the hardest seasons in a child’s life as they journey toward permanency. Even short seasons of safety and support can leave a lasting impact, and the sacrifices foster parents make can become an incredible blessing to a child in need. Want to learn more about becoming a foster parent? CFK is hosting a virtual info session on June 18th at 7pm, and we’d love to have you join us. For Nurses Appreciation Day, we’re recognizing the DSS nurses who show up for kids in foster care every single day. As a local nursing supervisor shared, “There are 7 pediatric nurses. They carry about 65 kids on each of their caseloads… balancing everything that needs to be done on any given day is hard and always having to live in panic mode.” These nurses carry heavy, often unseen burdens as they care for children with complex medical needs and walk with them through moments that can feel overwhelming and uncertain. When asked how we could help, they shared a simple need: small comfort items. Things like stuffed animals and fidget toys can ease fear, build trust, and help children feel safe in those first critical moments. You can support these nurses and the kids they serve by fulfilling items through our one-minute impact page (link in bio) for comfort kits, helping bring a sense of calm and care during difficult hospital visits. Comment "we see you" and some 🩵s to make our DSS Nurses feel seen and loved. #nowthatiknow #everyonecandosomething #charlottenonprofit #nursesappreciationweek

🧡 May is Foster Care Awareness Month 🧡 At CFK, we see every day how kids and families in the foster care system are impacted - not just by crisis, but by community. This month, we’re helping connect awareness with action, because impact in the foster care system can look many different ways. We hear it all the time at CFK: “I didn’t know… but now that I do, I want to help.” Whether it’s fostering, mentoring, serving, or giving, we’ll be sharing ways to take a next step - so stay tuned! #nowthatiknow #everyonecandosomething #charlottenonprofit #fostercareawarenessmonth
