KEEGAN FONG 3/3
ME: I know this restaurant was created by you and your mom - what of her sense of style / taste inspires you the most?
KEEGAN: I think what inspires me the most is this idea of taking my mom’s story and presenting it in a way that is relevant to myself which in turn is relevant to the consumer. A lot of the time it may not seem to make sense…but it also doesn’t really have to.

ME: What is one source of inspiration to you in starting Woon that would be unexpected to the average customer?
KEEGAN: I get a lot of inspiration from my friends or colleagues who work within the skate, surf, art worlds. It’s the world I came from and I find it interesting to get ideas from something so far removed from the food/beverage industry.

ME: How has LA as a city inspired the idea of Woon before it was a physical place?
KEEGAN: LA is where I was born and raised so it has always been home for me. It only made sense to open Woon, an ode to my mom’s homestyle food, in Los Angeles where she immigrated to from Hong Kong.
