Thank you to everyone who came out to Ego Death. We were so thrilled to feel everyone’s support behind this concept. It was amazing to see how hiding the DJ reoriented us towards each other and restored connection as the focal point of the dance floor. Special thanks to @mykolantis for illuminating the space with an absolutely incredible lighting installation. See you at the next one🤍

Montreal, we’re back. Concrete Breaks presents Ego Death: Restoration of the Dance. A project that recentres the dance floor as the rave’s focal point. We make our long-awaited return to Barbossa on May 1st with an event like no other. The DJs will be hidden, with a mesh net acting as a barrier between the booth and the dance floor. Eliminating “performance” alters the entire atmosphere of the room. The dance floor becomes the paramount focus, and the rave preserves its emphasis on collective experience. Ego Death represents a liberation from the self, bringing about a profound sense of collective purpose. As always, we encourage art submissions from artists of all disciplines and experience-levels. The art submission form can be found in our bio. PROMPTS: Enlightenment, Symbiosis, Focal Point. FREE ENTRY as long as you put your name on our guest list. Link in bio.

Moments from the Grove, our hidden sanctuary of nature and blissful beats. What a special night that was. We’re completely blown away by the incredible art and positive energy that you guys brought to the Jama last Saturday. Your consistent enthusiasm to build this creative community gives us so much joy. We are so excited for what else is to come. Special shoutout to our headliner @katiecooperx for shutting down the dance with her thunderous selections. It was an absolute honour to dance with you.

You had to be there. Thank you to our entire community for helping us forge the blindspot, a space where we could freely express ourselves without the pressure of being watched. The reclamation of human connection and intimacy was central to this collaborative project between @concretebreaks and @commonculture.mtl and we’re forever grateful to see everyone’s commitment to the vision. The blindspot retains its meaning when it exists only in our memories. Special thanks to @_factorystudios for the wicked sound system and @bur1alrites for killing it with the lighting and visuals.

Amidst the sprawling jungle of concrete and steel, find refuge in the hidden: join us at The Grove for a night of ethereal beats and visual art. Linking memories of a distant past with blurry foresights of a simpler future, we seek to create a space that reconnects us with our roots while channelling the collective effervescence of dance and imagination. Nestled away from the urban chaos, The Grove is a vision of a world where humanity is in harmony with nature; a sacred space of sound system ritual. Additionally, we are thrilled to be joined by local headliner @katiecooperx , one of Toronto’s most esteemed representatives of the UK sound. Renowned for her tasteful blends of garage, UK funky, grime, and more, Katie has carved out a mighty reputation across the city’s club scene and beyond. Art submission prompts: Hideaway, Mirage, and Ecosystem. Come join us at The Jama on April 11th to experience The Grove firsthand. Tickets can be found on Resident Advisor. Link in bio.
