Clay men, popsicle sticks, and BIG imagination! ✨
Our young patron built their own masterpiece using clay, popsicle sticks, and a supervised hot glue gun.
Need a little extra help sticking ideas together? Hot glue guns can be borrowed during open maker hours! Learn more about the Workshop at cfpl.info/workshop
Our libraries are closed today for staff training, but we couldn’t resist sharing a first glimpse of something magical. ✨
Here’s a sneak peek at our newly redesigned adult Choose-Your-Own Reading Adventure program. Can you spot a familiar place among the the trees?
The adventure begins Monday, June 8. Learn more at /summerreading
We would like to thank the hardworking staff from @townofconcordma Health Division for staffing this informational kiosk loaded with knowledge on how to handle tick season!
Just kidding, the staff aren't really here, only a flower pot head scarecrow...but the information is real!!! Stay safe during tick season everyone!
Don't miss your chance to snag one of these limited edition @ConcordPride bookmarks at either Library location while supplies last! cfpl.info/pride
This year's Pride events at the Library are made possible by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library, @masscultural , and the @townofconcordma Cultural Council.
Are you walking around Concord and enjoying all the beautiful flowers like we are? You can stop by the Main Library and see flowers on book covers too with Librarian Danielle's "Books in Bloom" book display.
She says, "I know it's a bit of a cliche to do a display with flowers in the spring (cue Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada saying 'Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.') but we had such a long winter that I wanted to celebrate the warmer weather with some beautiful book covers! There's a little something for everyone on this display with books from a wide variety of authors and genres."
Concord Family Bike Fest was a fantastic way to kick off #NationalBikeMonth! We enjoyed helmet fittings, bike safety checks and tune-ups, learn-to-ride tips, bike and helmet decorating, swag, and an awesome safety course. Attendees also had the chance to check out e-bikes, trikes, and even a tandem bike!
A huge thank you to @wheelhouse_bradfordmill for hosting us and to our incredible volunteers and partners for making the event such a success, including: @bikeleague safety instructors Jim Salvie and Phil Posner, @bespokebikesbybrian , @townofconcordmagov Officer Leah, @srts_ma , Concord @mothers.out.front , and @massbike .
We hope you get a chance to stop by the Main Library and see the exhibitions we have running through May celebrating Korean Family Month!
In the Munroe Gallery you can see Hanji Art by Jongkuk Lee which reflects a practice shaped by long contemplation, close observation, and sustained engagement with the natural world. Through the making of paper, the building of color, and the repeated gesture of the hand, the work follows rhythms already present in life rather than imposing something new. Learn more at /4ddnyfq
In our Hallway Display Cases you can see the delightful Hanji Dolls by Jaehee Cheong who makes paper dolls as a hobby while living abroad and as an opportunity to promote traditional Korean art. She enjoys creating these dolls because they evoke her sense of nostalgia. Learn more at /4d8XodC
We had the most amazing time this past weekend! We got to hear the beautiful traditional Korean music with Iksoo Heo on geomungo and Grace Kang on haegeum. They also looked so beautiful!
Then we got to see an incredible K-Pop dance performance by @styleme_dance !
You can see more of our upcoming events at cfpl.info/events
