It began with two brothers and an Olympic dream. Peter and Dick Dreissigacker began tinkering in 1976 with a simple goal of building faster oars.
At the time, racing oars were made of wood, and they were heavy. Dick and Peter believed there was a better way. Could they be lighter? Could they be faster?
Working in their kitchen with carbon fiber and fiberglass, they began testing composite designs. Early blades were shaped by hand and cured in a home oven. Progress came through trial and error. Over time, they developed a lightweight and durable composite oar that weighed about five pounds, reduced unnecessary load on the athlete, and delivered a cleaner, more efficient connection through the water. We strive to design, manufacture, sell and support unique products of the highest quality and value for the benefit of the Concept2 community: our customers, employees, suppliers and neighbors.
Our mission has guided us for 50 years, and will guide us for 50 more. On January 1, 2025, the Founders transferred 100 percent of Concept2’s ownership to the Concept2 Perpetual Purpose Trust.
This step ensures that Concept2 will never be sold off to outside owners and will remain true to its Mission. Profits are reinvested into the business and used to fulfill the designated purpose of the Trust. They do not flow to individual shareholders, but rather, elevate our neighbors, community, employees, and vendors. This cyclical pattern of responsible stewardship in business reinforces our Mission for socially responsible practices in our human and environmental communities. 36 Engr Update - SSgt (SSI) M Crame RAPTC
36 Engrs & QGE are currently first in the concept2 Military Challenge. Originally used to ignite competition and encourage participation across the levels of PT after the Christmas period.
The challenge encompasses SkiErg, RowErg and BikeErg, with bike metres halved for scoring. Even with these constraints, the Regiment currently sits 1st in the world across all participating militaries. As of 25 February, 170 participants have achieved 14,291,947 metres, placing us more than 2.4 million metres ahead of second place. The commitment from every Squadron has been exceptional, particularly considering this began as an internal Inter‑Sqn competition before evolving into a unified Regimental effort. Despite multiple Squadron deployments to Belize and Brecon, soldiers have continued to contribute whenever able.
Additionally, 50 Sqn are conducting a 24‑hour Concept2 endurance event today, contributing further metres while raising money for Combat Stress.
Having finished third last year, being on track for a global first place is an achievement that reflects outstanding dedication from across the Regiment.
Well done to all 💪🏻👍🏻

The fastest 2K. Ever!
Taking 1.1 seconds off the record is an unbelievable achievement, especially when you do the calculations and figure out this is a whole 1% more power than the old record. Amazing!
