Recent listens on my HiFi Walker. There's been a lot of posts recently about how bad Spotify is (it sucks) and I'd like to recommend keeping your own music library. Ive always preferred having my own files to streaming, and I got this mp3 player a couple years ago off Amazon. I've installed a custom firmware called Rockbox on this, which is optional but has a lot of cool custom features and skins. It works on a lot of mp3 players, including old iPods. Before that, I used my phone, but the big benefit this provides are an SD slot and an aux jack, two things newer phones don't have. It also means more room on my phone for things like photos. Having music on your phone is super convenient though, and when I did, I used Foobar for mobile to listen to music I added from my PC. I get most of my music from Bandcamp, CDs from the library, or friends. Do I feel left out that I don't get to share a big spreadsheet at the end of the year explaining how my playlists had "Cheugy Brat Electroswing Vibes?" Sometimes. But I don't pay a subscription, I don't have to listen to AI slop pushed by an algorithm, and I don't have to give money to a company that's essentially running a pyramid scheme. Tl;dr Get FLACs, Get CDs. Get a big hard drive and get off Spotify. I can't recommend it enough!

29 feels bittersweet. Unfortunately the journey I began three months ago has come to an abrupt end. As many of my friends and family know, I began my "Panera Across America" journey in the Odyssey Entegra you see behind me in March, intending to visit a Panera in every county in the country. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, as I am a huge fan of their fast-casual and carb-centric (yet still low calorie) menu. When Panera reached out offering to sponsor my content creation journey, I was ecstatic beyond belief. When I watch those first few vlogs of me at the Glenmont Panera and the Panera in Somerset County where I had the grilled chicken wrap, I see a man whose joy and optimism shone out like a beacon to everyone around him. But the good times never last. After having the new Spicy Aoli Breakfast Salad Bowl at a Rhode Island Panera, i subsequently came down with a violent case of what my doctor referred to as "ear diarrhea" that put me out of commission for nearly a week. Not wanting to mislead my Panericans, I posted a full video explaining what happened to my channel. Soon after, Panera pulled their sponsorship and, adding insult to injury got the video demonetized. They even rescinded my MyPanera membership. The van lease was unfortunately in my name and I am still paying it off, as the copious amount of Panera branding on the side means I have few interested buyers. Nevertheless, it was an incredible three months. Can't wait to see what my 29th year will bring.
