On Thursday, May 14th, composer Nirmali Fenn will be featured on our IMPACT Series!
Nirmali Fenn is a Sri Lankan-born Australian composer who has been island-hopping since finishing her PhD at Oxford University. At the heart of all her music is the message that home is mobile – each piece responds to what is happening in the place where the composition was born. She senses herself as a musical nomad. Nirmali’s music has been described as “dynamic and sculpturally fluid” exploring the “poetics of spacetime thematic resonance”.
To learn more about her musical journey, tune in on our Youtube Channel this Thursday @ 7:00 PM EST!

We would like to congratulate composer Gabriela Lena for winning the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Music for her piece “Picaflor: A Future Myth”!
Premiered on March 13, 2025 at Marian Anderson Hall in Philadelphia, this powerful ten movement symphonic work is informed by the composer’s personal experiences with the California wildfires and Andean Peruvian mythology. This work follows a hummingbird through its attempts to escape catastrophe, a meditation for a fragile future.
We would also like to congratulate the two other finalists for the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Music as well, composer Billy Childs for his piece “In the Arms of the Beloved” and composer Andrew Rindfleisch for his piece “American Descent”. This is an incredible achievement for everyone involved, and an incredible moment for musicians across the world.
