This film was all about reinforcing empathy, over sympathy, with those on the autistic spectrum.
The score/sound design frequently highlights the overwhelming auditory and sensory overload often experienced by those with autism, in an attempt to place the audience in their shoes.
After battling with the unbearable feeling of being trapped in our own skin, this scene marks a breakthrough of loving and accepting oneself totally!
