To say that 2025 was a year of immense growth would be an understatement.

Not because everyone loves it. And not because everyone hates it. But because AP x Swatch dropped something strange enough, familiar enough, and disruptive enough that people had to pick a side.

During @watchesandwonders , we had the chance to spend time inside the world of Audemars Piguet; from the Royal Oak to the brand’s broader expression of craft, culture, high complication, and design.
And if the goal of this Swatch collaboration is to translate even a small piece of that world to a wider audience, there’s plenty of reason to be excited.

Bucherer Watch Week brought collectors, enthusiasts, and industry voices together in NYC for a weekend dedicated to the culture of watches.
Complecto was proud to be part of the conversation, hosting a discussion with David Hong, VP of CPO at Bucherer, on Rolex Certified Pre-Owned and what it means for today’s collecting landscape.
CPO is bigger than availability. It sits at the intersection of trust, transparency, education, access, and how collectors navigate the market with more confidence.
A thoughtful room. A meaningful conversation filled with real insight, and another reminder that watch culture moves forward when we create space for real dialogue.

Our friends from @balticwatches and @spaceonewatches have teamed up to deliver the Seconde Majeure - bringing together two very different design languages: Baltic’s vintage-leaning restraint and SpaceOne’s futuristic approach to time display.
The result is compact, elegant, and deeply French, with a jumping hour, wandering minute display, sapphire discs, and a dial plate finished in maillechort, including an optional hand-finished Charbonné treatment by Théo Auffret’s atelier.
It’s not often you see this much mechanical theater at this price point. And it was great getting an early look at the SF @windupwatchfair last week.
A little heritage. A little sci-fi. A lot of charm.

The Freak has never behaved like anything else in watchmaking.
No dial. No hands. No crown. None of the conventional rules.
At Watches and Wonders, Ulysse Nardin brought us into the world of the Freak with @fxhotier , President of Ulysse Nardin Americas, for a closer look at the new Super Freak.
Since 2001, the Freak has pushed mechanical watchmaking forward - from introducing silicon into haute horlogerie to turning the movement itself into the display.
The Super Freak carries that spirit into its 25th anniversary with twin inclined flying tourbillons, patented DIAMonSIL escapements, the Grinder automatic winding system, and the first integrated seconds display in a Freak (among other innovations.)
Limited to just 50 pieces and priced at 320,000CHF, the Super Freak sits at the very top of Ulysse Nardin’s experimental watchmaking as a statement of what the Freak has always represented: mechanical innovation without apology.

We caught up with OG Complecto fam Elias, aka @staycrispymyfriends , at last month’s @wheels_of_nyc Spring Edition.
He pulled up in his classic 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser with plenty of heavy metal on the wrist — which is right on brand for him.
In the ’90s, few SUVs carried the same kind of presence as the Toyota Land Cruiser. Before the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade helped turn the luxury SUV into a mainstream status symbol, the Land Cruiser had already written the blueprint: rugged, expensive, capable, and deeply aspirational. It was less flashy than a Range Rover, but arguably cooler because it never tired to be something it wasn’t.
That’s the thing about objects with real staying power. Whether it’s a car, a watch, or anything else we choose to keep close, they communicate something about taste, memory, design, and the lives we build around them.
For Elias, that connection is natural.
To know him is to love him. His style and warmth are infectious, and he makes every room better when he’s there. And if you catch him outside, don’t be surprised if he’s selling vintage Omegas and Credors out the back of the truck for an absolute steal.
Because at the end of the day, it’s never just about the cars or the watches. It’s about the people who give them life.
