Students learned all about HCU and The Linda Dunham School of Nursing, participated in a nursing student panel, and learned hands-on nursing skills side-by-side current nursing students and faculty. @tmcinnovation was the perfect place for our inaugural School of Nursing Fair! Various colleges and universities from Greater Houston and around the state came to speak with students about what makes their nursing program unique. Each school provided important admissions and degree information along with answering student questions. Students also learned about the TEAS exam and LAUNCH through our proud camp sponsor @atinursingeducation . Last week, a few of our students volunteered their time during #nursesweek to provide a small token of appreciation to nurses @kindredhospitals Houston Medical Center. Bags were filled with hand cream, sanitizer, and sweet treats (of course!). Thank you for welcoming our students!

Joint hypermobility and/or instability may be a person’s only problem. It can also occur as part of a known syndrome, such as types of Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS), Marfan syndrome, or Down syndrome. The hypermobility spectrum disorders occur when a person has symptomatic joint hypermobility that cannot be explained by other conditions. A person with HSD may have joint instability as their only concern or may have other medical issues as well. Many people can recognize that their joints are able to move more than other people’s. A doctor or physical therapist can evaluate a person’s joints to determine if they are hypermobile. For some joints, a tool called a goniometer is used to measure how far the joint can extend. Asthma is one of the most common chronic non-communicable diseases that affects over 260 million people. Asthma is responsible for over 450,000 deaths each year worldwide. Most of these deaths are preventable. Asthma attacks involve obstruction of the air passages in the lungs which reduces the ability of the person to inhale life sustaining oxygen into the body.
