Do you remember being asked, "What do you want to do when you grow up?"
For many children facing extreme poverty, daring to hope in that answer can feel impossible.
At her local Compassion project in Rwanda, Amina was given a book called *My Plan for Tomorrow,* which encouraged her to write her dream for the future. She wrote that she wanted to be a business person.
God had a plan for Amina's life. Today, her social enterprise has changed the lives of over 10,000 women and girls across Rwanda.
Reflecting on her journey, Amina shared "The hope I received is now being passed along”.

For years, Mauricia prayed one prayer: that her family would come to know God.
She never expected her children would lead the way.
When Junior and Genesis joined their local Compassion project in Peru, their faith began to grow and it didn’t stay within the project walls. It overflowed into their home.
Their joy caught their father Alejandro’s attention. A man who never wanted to go to church, slowly began attending meetings, then services, until one day he stood in baptism and shared how God had changed his life through his children.
"My family has changed completely," shared Junior, aged 13 💛
Today, Mauricia mentors other mothers at the centre. Alejandro serves alongside her. Junior and Genesis are growing in their gifts and their faith.
This #InternationalDayofFamilies, we’re celebrating the people who help shape our faith, encourage us and point us towards hope.
Whose faith has impacted your family story?
Jesus invites us to see the immeasurable value of children.
He made time for them. He welcomed them, honoured them and blessed them. Jesus saw children as deeply important in the Kingdom of God, worthy of love, dignity and care.
May we continue to follow His example and hold close His heart for children and the vulnerable.

Today, Denis’ patients call him the “angel” of the hospital corridors.
As a child growing up in poverty, Denis dreamed of becoming a nurse. Through his local Compassion project, he was awarded a scholarship that helped him continue his education and pursue his dream.
Now, Denis is passing on the same love and compassion he experienced as a boy to every patient he cares for.
When we follow Jesus’ lead and care for children, it sparks a movement of hope and lives are transformed. Young people are equipped to become change-makers in their communities.
We give God the glory for Denis’ testimony.
Have you ever heard of a ‘keyhole’ garden?
At his local Compassion project, Junior has been learning how one small garden can bring big changes to his family and community.
Like many places around the world, Kenya is prone to ‘climate shocks’, making rain and water unpredictable. Junior remembers those difficult seasons well:
“My teachers used to talk about the annual famine in our village, which brought widespread hunger. It’s the kind of hunger that sits in your stomach like a heavy stone.”
But through his local Compassion project, Junior learned something different. Together with local teachers and community leaders, families were shown sustainable ways to grow healthier food using less water and without harmful or expensive chemicals.
What may look like a small backyard garden is helping families become more resilient and hopeful for the future.
Find out more how Junior and his family are managing to shift the story through sustainable growing via the link in our bio.
To our seven Compassion runners, and everyone who supported them at #LondonMarathon2026, we want to say a big thank you. 💙
Each step taken and every act of generosity is going beyond the finish line to impact the lives and futures of children and young people living in poverty.
We’ve been so moved hearing the personal stories, motivations and heart behind each runner taking part. Together, you raised an incredible £21,600, helping transform lives and support communities through Compassion’s work in places like Togo and Ghana.

In Bolivia, our photojournalist Galia Oropeza has been capturing moments of joy. For these young people, opening a letter from their sponsor brings anticipation, encouragement, hope, and connection. 💌
“My sponsor tells me that she prays for me, that makes me feel good and happy,” shares 10-year-old Genesis.
“When I receive letters, I feel good because I feel there is someone I can talk to,” adds 17-year-old Lavinia.
When children face uncertainty, we move. Today, we're handing over to 9-year-old Ian from Peru to share how his local church was there when his family home was badly damaged by heavy rainfall.
We're so grateful to work exclusively in partnership with local church partners who are an ever-present source of help when vulnerable children and families need support. #Jesusleadswemove
Today, thousands are taking to the streets, running, walking and rolling for causes close to their hearts. Among them are our incredible Compassion runners, carrying stories of hope with every step.
With families cheering from the sidelines and a whole community behind them, we pause to pray.
Lord, would you strengthen each runner today. When legs grow tired, renew their energy. When the road feels long, lift their eyes. Surround them with encouragement, joy and peace. May every mile reflect love in action, and every step make a difference for children living in poverty.
We thank You for the courage, commitment and compassion on display today.
Amen.
For Kelvin, the gift of a school uniform from his church Compassion project in the hills of Thyolo, Malawi, gave him dignity.
“When Aunt Eunice gave me the uniform, I was happy. Something I never had for years, finally, I had it!”
The crisp green shirt was more than a symbol of belonging. It carried the promise of uninterrupted learning. Never again would Kelvin be sent home from school for wearing the wrong clothes.
When she saw her son running home with excitement, Kelvin’s mum Ivy remembers, “The first thing that hit me was the sense of identity and equality he had just gained. And I knew he would now enjoy school without disruption; it was the end of my worrying.”
