Company E brings the magic of dance to DC schools! Company E performed IMPULSE!, a 45-minute collaborative performance using dance, live and recorded music, and storytelling to follow one character’s search for his own pulse. The show reveals that all living things — including the Earth — have a unique heartbeat, and that protecting the planet’s pulse ultimately protects our own. This program was offered through DC Collaborative’s Education Programs Catalogue at no cost to DC Public Schools and DC Public Charter Schools. Everyone say, "Thank you, Company E!" “Intrepid” - heavily inspired by the composer, Brianna Tam, and the driving beat of her music. We were fortunate enough to have a collaborative process with her, as you’ll see in the video of the performance at the World Expo in Osaka. She described this piece as feeling a pull towards something, for her specifically a pull towards the music and the cello. We used this push and pull idea in how we partner and weave through each other in explosive and intricate interactions. - @companyearts “Intrepid” collaboratively choreographed between @ryryisfly , @michalaconroy , @1jamyralasalle , and @horizonmuch will be performed by Company E at Aurora Dance Fest at @capitalonehall on April 11! Our Pre‑K and Kindergarten students had an incredible experience yesterday thanks to Company E, a dynamic dance group that brought movement and joy to our school! This amazing opportunity was made possible through the DC Art Collab program, which helps connect schools with local artists and arts organizations. Artist Highlight: @companyearts Company | E is an interdisciplinary performing arts organization with, at its heart, a contemporary repertory dance company, dance education and interdisciplinary arts organization based in the U.S. Capital City of Washington, DC emphasizing international collaborations with the great choreographers, dancers. composers, film-makers and artists at work today. Company | E builds its art through engagement with the diplomatic missions from nations around the globe, all based in Washington, DC, seeking out the greatest choreographic, musical and interdisciplinary artists in their fields, with an emphasis on the next generation of brilliant, cutting-edge art, and with the U.S. missions abroad, to present that work on the domestic and international stage. The Company seeks to create, perform, educate and engage in environmentally sustainable ways. A Company of seven dancers under the Artistic Direction of Paul Gordon Emerson and Kathryn Sydell Pilkington, Company | E does not adhere to a particular dance technique or philosophy of movement, seeking instead dancers and artists able to perform at a world-class level regardless of the technique and demands of the artists whose work is coming to the stage or the screen. Globally, Company | E is an ongoing partner with the U.S. Department of State, working with U.S. Missions around the world and with the Main State offices, particularly the Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs, to engage collaboratively with people and institutions around the world. The Company’s international work centers on these collaborations, often in parts of the world with little U.S. engagement or where relations are challenging, to bridge the space between the U.S. and the world. A deep priority of the organization is the respect for local culture, and programming which enfolds and supports both local culture and U.S. artistic and cultural excellence.
