Springtime on Lake Como is celebrated not only for its wisteria season. Just as much worth a visit, azaleas and rhododendrons in bloom transform the Lake’s gardens into a rainbow of colors for a few weeks each year in April and May. Villa Carlotta’s botanical garden is one of Italy’s most renowned gardens and features an impressive variety of plants and flowers from all over the world.
In spring and early summer, rhododendrons, azaleas, roses, and hydrangeas are in bloom — as is Lake Como’s perhaps most particular wisteria vine, growing over a centuries-old pine tree, and contrasting with the colorful stone garden created below.
