I am beyond grateful to have achieved my New Year’s resolution of earning my shodan in judo! This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of some key people in my life.
First, a heartfelt thank you to Sensei Hashimoto, who first introduced me to the sport of judo and sparked my passion for this incredible art. Your early teachings laid the foundation for everything I’ve achieved.
To Sensei @kasajuju and Sensei @sensei.ran , thank you for your guidance, patience, and wisdom over the years. Your dedication to teaching and your passion for judo have been truly inspiring.
To my longtime training partner, @roml , thank you for pushing me to my limits and helping me grow both on and off the mat. Your support and commitment made this journey so much more meaningful.
And most importantly, to my amazing wife @joylenecas , thank you for standing by me and helping me stay focused on this goal. Your love and encouragement have been my greatest strength.

College, Marines, San Diego, Hawaii, FAA, flights and road trips, 3 times we said I Do, 2 pregnancies, 1 toddler later… we’ve come a long way from 22 💍💗
Lol I finally got to do this trend I wanted to do it on the cruise but I forgot 😭😂
Before we were together, Caslene and I went stargazing and just talked the whole time. When I dropped her home that night, she kissed me on the cheek and told me “Sorry, but you know this is as far as we can go. Just friends.” I never believed that. I told her, “No way, you’re going to marry me one day, I know it,”… and she just laughed at me, said, “yeah right,” and closed the door in my face.
Today, it’s been 10 years of being her husband and I wouldn’t be where I am without her. Her “prank” on me in high school got me interested in the Marines. Our long distance relationship made me travel more and she opened my mind to what’s out there. She still pushed us to move to San Diego when I ended up getting out. She told me I could do better with jobs so I waited it out and got a call back from the FAA that started my current career. She also pushed me to go back into the service where I’m happily serving with my unit at the HIANG and honestly I love it. She made me a father and loves our wild child so much. She handles our lives and keeps it together while I’m away and for 10 years she’s still the one I get to come home to. Happy anniversary, my rock, my life, my love and here’s to many more.
Secretly so relieved that he loves Disney as much as mommy because it made this stay so memorable!! Still getting there with meeting the characters but he was so excited to meet Mickey! He did a lot of firsts — big boy water slide by himself, wore a life vest (didn’t like it before) and jumped into pools, doggy paddled between me and Clarence (he was super excited every time!!), and ate blackberries and pineapples and cantaloupes! It’s also our 3rd year in a row eating at Makahiki exactly on his birthday lol I wonder how long we can keep this up 😅
