This June we’re running a two-day workshop on the invisible dynamics that drive groups - Through the Eyes of the Facilitator.
Most facilitation training teaches you how to run a session. This is about what’s actually happening in the room.
Swipe to see what we’ll explore and what you’ll leave with.

A few moments from our cycling workshops in Manukau talking all things cycling with locals.
We used silent disco headphones to take people through an audio journey — a different way of exploring ideas together.
Mostly listening: what works, what doesn’t, and what this should look like here.
More to come as we shape this up.
So… what actually is Familiar Faces?
It’s a place to discover what’s happening in your neighbourhood and find simple ways to connect with others.
Because when we start recognising familiar faces, our communities begin to feel a little more like home.
Made possible thanks to the Ōrākei Local Board and local residents who care deeply about connection.

Grateful to spend the afternoon with the Maungakiekie Tāmaki x Ngā Hapori Ngaruru weavers sharing stories, food, and time together.
Disabled people are the masters of the art of adapting. Our lived experience, knowledge and leadership are essential to shaping climate adaptation solutions that work for everyone.
Adaptation includes actions to:
🪴 Accommodate: Change how we use places and how we do things so we can live safely with a changing climate. This can include restoring wetlands, changing farming practices, and designing buildings and spaces that will work well in the future.
🏠 Retreat: Work together as a community to plan how people, taonga, and important community places can move to safer ground when needed. This can include getting expert help to explore the best and safest options for difficult situations.

We’re launching a new Disability-Led Climate Adaptation Pilot in Tāmaki Makaurau. This partnership brings together the Auckland Council, a Grant Advisory Panel and implementation partners to fund disabled-led ideas that help our communities adapt to climate change — not just respond to emergencies, but live well between events.
We have $150,000 to fund disabled-led climate adaptation projects. This pilot uses participatory grantmaking. That means disabled people help design the process, and the Grant Advisory Panel recommends which projects get funded. Lived experience sits at the centre of climate adaptation decisions.

🌶️ Introducing Salty ✨
Our newest journal, inspired by that little kick of personality we all bring to our mahi. It’s about honesty, heart, and the flavour that people add to community work.
This journal is for everyone working in community development, sharing what they're up to and what they care about.
"She's unimpressed, a little over it, yet still holding something powerful across her shoulders... Be salty!"
A big thanks to our front cover artist, Mel Jonassen!

Neighbours Aotearoa has been a key part of Community Think’s work for many years, in partnership with the Methodist Mission.
What started in 2009 as a one-day event, then grew to 10 days, is now a year-round movement, supporting people across Aotearoa connect and build local participation (and yes, our participation culture work grew straight out of this!)
This year marks 15 years of Neighbours Aotearoa, recently featured on @sevensharptvnz for bringing communities together.
