What does affordable housing mean to you? For Joeseph, and other residents of Baez Place in the Bronx, it means making it to their grandchildren's recitals and having money left over even after paying rent. Baez Place is 153-unit affordable and supportive housing development in the Bronx, New York - developed by Community Access and funded by New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR). New York State is committed to building and preserving affordable housing across the state. Projects like Baez Place are how that commitment actually shows up in the lives of New Yorkers. This is what affordable housing does. Learn more at hcr.ny.gov

It’s simple: equal work deserves equal wages. Despite this, nonprofit human services workers earn 30% less than City workers — for the same job. 📣That’s why we’re rallying to support Int 0452 (Wage Equity Legislation), which would help close the pay gap and advance #JustPay for our workers. By creating a new wage requirement system that aligns nonprofit and City salaries, Int 0452 goes beyond short-term fixes. It creates an entirely new system that supports wage equity for the long-haul. @nycmayor and @nyccouncil — pass Int 0452 now! @althea_stevens_d16

Final state budget negotiations are happening NOW. @govkathyhochul and the state Legislature must prioritize supportive housing and include the additional $81.6 MILLION for the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) to support underfunded legacy projects! Housing is a human right. We are counting on our representatives in Albany to protect our most vulnerable neighbors. #SAVENYESSHI #SaveSupportiveHousing

When Janissa moved into River Avenue last summer after three years in the shelter system, she and her two children finally had a place to put down roots. Today, her apartment is filled with her artwork, thriving plants, and cozy spaces where her family can learn and grow. A Brooklyn native and survivor of domestic abuse, Janissa is now channeling her passion for healing into the building’s community garden, where she recently completed an intensive agricultural training. As a certified wellness coach, she’s also launching her own venture, Garden of N’nevah, focused on organic gardening and natural self-care. “Home gives me peace of mind,” she says. “And with that, I can dream bigger.” 💙 #ParticipantSpotlight

Welcome to Baez Place! 🏠💙 Yesterday's ribbon cutting marks another big step toward expanding access to safe, affordable housing for more New Yorkers. This light-filled building includes a computer lab, gym, outdoor spaces, and double-height lounges designed as welcoming gathering places for tenants. And for the first time ever, we’re adding a greenhouse on the 8th-floor terrace — creating space to grow food year-round and bring harvests straight into the commercial kitchen and community room. 🌱 Baez Place is also our first building to include dedicated apartments and services for frail and elderly New Yorkers who have experienced homelessness, with thoughtfully designed alcove studios that allow space for home health aides. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone! ✂️✨

Our people are our strength! 💪 More than 230 dedicated staff bring empathy, expertise, and lived experience to their work every day, creating environments where participants can thrive and communities rooted in respect and care. Our Intensive Mobile Treatment (IMT) and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams embody this commitment. They bring support directly to New Yorkers wherever they are; whether that’s on the street, in shelters, in public spaces, or at home. Funded by @nychealthy and @officeofmentalhealth , these multidisciplinary teams of clinicians, service providers, and peers walk alongside people as they navigate challenges and define recovery on their own terms. Get to know 3 of our IMT members in the latest issue of C magazine! Link in bio. ↗️
