Forests are more than just trees. 🌳✨
In Namibia, they are climate solutions, biodiversity strongholds, and vital lifelines for the people who call them home.
Our success in protecting these landscapes is rooted in a powerful, long-standing partnership between local communities, donors, NGOs, and the government. 🤝🇳🇦
By supporting the legal rights of residents to manage their own land, we ensure that those who live among the trees remain their most effective guardians. This community-led approach keeps our forests, and the livelihoods they support, thriving for the long haul.

Happy Independence Day, Namibia! 🇳🇦
Today, we celebrate 36 years of freedom, unity, and a sovereign commitment to our greatest heritage: the wild. From our communal conservancies to our vast protected landscapes, we honor a nation where people and nature thrive together.
We came together at the Community Conservation Inspiration Hub, to celebrate this milestone; reflecting, connecting, and embracing the spirit of Namibia. As a center for conservation and community, we celebrate the mission that defines us: protecting our iconic wildlife and ecosystems to ensure a resilient, green future for generations to come.
Did you know that NACSO helps manage community conservation areas that now cover nearly 20% of all the land in Namibia? 🇳🇦
Partnerships like these are the absolute key to strengthening conservation across our country.
In this episode of the “Getting To Know Our Partners In Conservation” series, we are joined by Maxi Louis, Director of the Namibian Association of CBNRM Support Organisations (NACSO). Maxi shares her insights on the vital role of communal conservancies and how community voices continue to shape Namibia’s conservation success.
Through deep collaboration and community-led initiatives, partners are helping to strengthen conservation outcomes while supporting sustainable livelihoods. This ensures that those living alongside wildlife are the ones leading the way.

On Tuesday, the CCI Hub came alive for World Wildlife Day with a special screening of Guardians of Eden.
Watching the film was a powerful reminder that Namibia’s iconic species aren’t just part of the landscape, they are our heritage and our responsibility.
A massive thank you to @multichoice_nam for granting the screening rights and fueling these vital conversations.
Let’s protect the wild together. 🐾
Today on World Wildlife Day, we honour the people who stand at the frontline between extinction and survival.
Together with partners under Namibia’s CBNRM umbrella, including NACSO, the Legal Assistance Centre, the Pangolin Conservation and Research Foundation (PCRF), WWF and many others, we are marking the day with a private screening of Guardians of Eden, the award-winning Namibian documentary by Jana von Hase.
Through the voices of rhino rangers, pangolin guardians, community custodians and traditional leaders, the film shows how conservation in Namibia is not just a practice but a lived commitment. It is defended daily. It is rooted deeply in community identity, stewardship and pride.
Biodiversity is heritage.
Heritage is livelihood.
Livelihood is dignity.
And dignity is worth protecting.
You can also watch Guardians of Eden on ShowMax and experience the powerful stories shaping Namibia’s conservation legacy.

🌍💧Today is World Wetlands Day, Namibia! 💧🌍
Did you know?
Namibia’s wetlands and coastal lagoons are home to large flocks of flamingos —making them one of southern Africa’s most important feeding and breeding grounds for Greater and Lesser Flamingos.
Though Namibia is among the driest countries in sub-Saharan Africa, its wetlands support over 60% of the nation’s bird species. They act as natural water filters, flood buffers, and shields against climate change.
From the Okavango and Zambezi floodplains to Etosha Pan and Walvis Bay lagoons, wetlands sustain wildlife, livelihoods, and ecosystems—even when water is scarce.
✨ Protecting wetlands means protecting iconic species like flamingos and the communities that depend on healthy water systems.
Let’s celebrate, protect, and restore our wetlands—for people, nature, and future generations.

International Zebra Day | Learning from Namibia’s Zebras 🦓
On International Zebra Day, we recognise the importance of zebras in Namibia’s ecosystems and their role in maintaining healthy landscapes.
Namibia is home to the Plains Zebra and the Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra, a species uniquely adapted to rugged, arid terrain. Through selective grazing, zebras help prevent bush encroachment, promote grass regeneration, and support biodiversity by creating access to fresh forage for other wildlife.
Each zebra’s stripe pattern is unique, helping with social bonding, predator confusion, and temperature regulation, a remarkable example of nature’s design.
Protecting zebras means protecting ecosystem balance, wildlife corridors, and sustainable land use for future generations.
🌍 Conservation begins with understanding.
