Community 40 is an equation formed by five individuals in sync with shared passion for culture and heritage. We are a youth-led, interdisciplinary collective built on curiosity, creativity, and care. We believe that stories, whether they were told through oral history, a building's facade, a recipe, or a walk down a familiar lane, are powerful. They teach us, connect us, and help us see where we come from. Through Community 40, we want to make space for these stories. A space where you can learn, feel, and create. We'll be walking, talking, documenting, and dreaming. We're from here. And we're reaching out to the world. Little curious, little creative, and whole lot of care - That is Community 40 Poster designed by @aryakkumar

Community40 is conducting an informal, interactive educational talk on the Biennale. Its history, its politics, and its long argument with the city of Kochi. From Venice to Fort Kochi, from colonial institutional legacies to the biennales of resistance, from the state's interest to the artist's, this is a short conversation on how the Biennale shaped Kochi and the politics of people and place that runs underneath it. Walking through Mattancherry always feels like walking through layers of stories. With so many communities, cultures, and histories living so close together, every street has something to offer - from old spice shops and heritage buildings to food that carries generations of tradition. Mattancherry is known as a melting pot shaped by traders, Jewish, Gujarati, Konkani, Tamil, and many other communities, and even the food reflects that mix beautifully. This food walk by Community 40 takes you through that experience — stopping at years-old shops, tasting authentic delicacies, and hearing the little stories behind them. It’s not just about the food, but also about the history that comes with it. For us, shooting this was such a lovely experience. Walking around those streets, watching people, colours, textures, and little everyday moments made street photography feel so natural. One of those shoots where you come back with more than just photos ✨ Shot for @community.40 📍Mattanchery, Kochi ( food walk, heritage walks, Kochi, Mattanchery, Kerala, culture, authentic food, cultural food, summer, history, travel, old town aesthetics )

Glimpses from ABC Art Room’s ‘Make Your Own Hortus Malabaricus’, a fun, hands-on storytelling and art workshop for children, facilitated by Community 40, at St. Paul’s Public School, Fort Kochi. Inspired by Hortus Malabaricus, a 17th century botanical text made on the Malabar Coast, this workshop invited children to discover the magical world of local plants. The book featured over 700 species, many of which continue to shape our everyday lives, found in our kitchens, home remedies, and seasonal rituals. This workshop aimed to bring that legacy alive through memory, art, and storytelling. 30 students studying in 8th standard classes of St.Paul’s Oublic School, Fort Kochi participated in the workshop. Children explored the cultural, medicinal, and ecological importance of local plants and created their own zines. About the facilitator: Community 40 is a cross-disciplinary collective working at the intersections of heritage, art, and culture, building frameworks that promote inclusive growth, strengthen community participation, and celebrate heritage as a driver of creative education and tourism. They aim at advancing Kerala’s cultural sector by developing sustainable, research-informed frameworks that promote inclusive growth, strengthen community participation, and celebrate heritage as a driver of creative education and tourism. #KochiMuzirisBiennale #KochiBiennaleFoundation #ForTheTimeBeing #NikhilChopra #KMB2025

On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we're reflecting on a moment that meant everything to us. This year, the India Science Festival brought together over 25,000 participants at IISER Pune. Scientists, students, thinkers and the public celebrating science in all its forms. When we got the email inviting us to host a workshop at an event of this scale, we couldn't believe it. What an honour. We hosted "Make Your Own Hortus Malabaricus," pouring ourselves into every detail. We wanted students to see that science isn't separate from history, culture, or community. Our science communicator, @bluekurinji , brought her expertise to help us shape this experience. Together, we created space for students to observe, question, and document the world around them. Watching them make their own Hortus, comprehending how history, culture, community, and science come together and that's what made it unforgettable. The Hindustan Times called it eye-catching. We call it proof that science belongs to everyone. Grateful doesn't even cover it.
