Boston Cafe Bikers has 7 rides this month 😮💨😮💨 get ur bike clean this weekend FOR FREE and then enjoy the rest of the cafe rides through the city ;)
Our city rides are ALL beginner-friendly and short ‘n sweet (25-30 min) with a cafe stop at the end. Why bother going to spin class when you could be outside ;)
Fueled by hot cocoa, our group braved the snow to learn a bit more about biking infrastructure around Boston☕️🏙️
Thank you to everyone who came along for the ride… hope your shoes are finally dry!
We hate to do this, but due to a variety of conditions, including snow and cold, we'll try again for next Saturday. All the details are the same, just the date is changing.
See you next Saturday!

Happy New Year from CommonWheels!
We hope you’ve had a restful (or at least bike-ful) holiday season! We’re starting 2026 strong with a whole bunch of winter programming.
Want to learn the basics of maintenance? Sew your own bike bag? Just get your bike fixed up? We have events for you!
CommonWheels is running two winter programs: Winter Open Shop and Workshops.
❄ Winter Open Shop is just like our classic Open Shop, but we sure won’t be outdoors! Instead, we’ll be set up at Artisans Asylum at 96 Holton St, Boston, MA 02135. Bring your bike and learn how to fix specific problems or take care of it in the winter with guidance from Commonwheels staff and volunteers.
⚒ Workshops are made possible through a new winter partnership with @fabville_ ! We’ll have a monthly “ABCs of Bike Maintenance” class covering the basics that you need to know to keep your bike running safely. We’ll also have a specialty workshop every month, where you can learn from experts about specific skills. Each event has a 10-participant cap, so registration is required (link in bio).
Hope to see you there!
As 2025 comes to an end, we're here to take a look back at some numbers from our biggest year yet.
Thank you all for being a part of this community - we look forward to more good times on bikes in 2026!
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our first-ever bike tour of Allston-Brighton last week! We had a great time riding with y'all.
Many appreciations also to our partners on this ride, @abhealthcollab and @abhousing_action ! It was great to learn from local community members & leaders about the history and future of Allston-Brighton.
Keep an eye out for future opportunities to get involved and learn about our communities :)
We're celebrating our cycling community and bringing in some of Boston’s biggest dance music DJs with a very special edition of our (in)famous Magical Musical Mystery Bike Ride! A movable feast for your ear enjoyment - it's a multi-set party by bike!
We'll meet up at 1:30pm @ the Grove in Lower Allston (corner of N Harvard and Western ave) and roll out at 2pm for a casual ~15mi, mostly flat + pathway route with 2 dance party stops featuring performances by local DJs:
@djadamgibbons@djbrunoboston@mowilk7
If you've never been to a Magical Musical Mystery Ride (we know, it's been a minute...) you're in for a treat! We'll roll as a group and explore some scenic and somewhat secret locations in our community, activating parks with bikes and art.
Remember to bring water, snacks, bike-lights, and dancing shoes.
The Magical Musical Mystery Bike Ride is free and open to all.
Curious about the history and future of Allston-Brighton? Join us for a guided tour-by-bike of the area!
When: September 21 at 2pm
Where: meet at the BU Cycle Kitchen for a quick safety briefing before riding a 6-mile slow roll through the neighborhood.
Local community leaders on the ride will be our tour guides as we stop at significant sites, and experienced riders will be present to keep the group safe on the road. This ride is open to all. Sign up at the link in our bio!
Event Contact: Miah Ebels-Duggan ([email protected])
Open Shop hours are changing!
Learn to work on your bike with us at The Grove (across the street from TJ's) on:

Saturdays 2-6pm
Rain location: Artisans Asylum
See you there!
Allston Rat Race is back for 2025!! Zone 3 on Western Ave.
The Allston Rat Race (the race that’s not a race) is a combination alley cat and casual community ride. Complete laps, or just visit the bonus stops. Either way, it’s going to be a blast!
This event is CommonWheels’ annual fundraiser. If you are feeling extra generous, drop us a donation with your ticket purchase to help fund Open Shops and events for our 2025-2026 season.

Hello all,
This year at CommonWheels there's a lot of change going behind the scenes, both in our plans for future programming and also our staff schedule.
For the time being, we're moving our Open Shop times to Monday afternoon, 4-8pm at the Grove. Some weeks, we may move to Smith Park, behind the Trader Joe's, but we'll keep you updated via calendar, newsletter, and instagram.
The hope is to bring back weekend open shops and add some new programming, as well as new staff members and volunteers in the coming month. If that interests you, please stay in touch!
For the meantime Mondays will be for open shop. Happy Spring!
