I made Common Thread for the artists in Portland.
I wanted to move beyond being just a meetup and get closer to the real, raw creative process.
Our first event kicks off with an after-hours studio tour featuring abstract painter + printmaker @jayescaitlin

We’ve pivoted to a new name and a new focus. No longer PDXMakersclub, we are now @commonthreadpdx . The goal of this new chapter is to get even closer to the art and the artist.
So we’re kicking this off with a series of events called ✨After Hours Studio Tours ✨ Why?
Well firstly, because how cool to see a bunch of different studio spaces, after hours, with a little drink??
And secondly, we often see artists’s finished pieces in galleries or on social media. but there is so much to learn from each artist’s unique and raw creative practice. This is the chance to deep dive and hear directly from one artist.
Even if we work in different mediums, we share a creative common thread. You never know what ideas or processes from another artist might spark a new idea in your own work!
First off we’ll be visiting abstract painter and printmaker @jayescaitlin studio on April 24th.

These meetups are for anyone who feels creative. Painters, woodworkers, musicians, dancers, photographers, writers, ceramicists, you name it. All mediums, all levels.
It’s a super casual way to meet other creative folks in Portland and just talk shop, or life, or whatever comes up.
