“Sum of Its Parts” is a bona fide hodgepodge of new mixed-media works by San Francisco native and Baltimore-based artist Sara Bautista, also known as Peggy Portals. Featuring materials both new and familiar to the artist, the works combine natural and synthetic elements in uneasy collaboration. Together, they explore themes of brutality, feigned innocence, cultural “-isms,” and moments of levity that surface amid collapse. The exhibition functions as a series of responses to life within an empire in decline -- fragmented, contradictory, and held together not by cohesion, but by proximity.
TODAY:) you are cordially invited to the grand opening of @commonritesupply solo exhibition.
