🚨 If you haven’t yet heard, there is a proposal to continue to cut library funding in San Diego.
⁉️ Why does this matter? Our libraries are one of the few FREE and safe places everyone can access. Cutting funding means less hours, less FREE resources, less books and so much more.
💡 Did you know that libraries provide so much more than books? They have regular community events like poetry workshops, children’s reading time, art exhibitions, senior education, and the list goes on. You can even get FREE passes to national parks and museums!
🌎 Why do we care? Because at the core of Commonplace is community and libraries are an essential part of what community looks like in the U.S.
🚀 What can you do? The Library Foundation will mail you FREE pre-addressed postcards to mail to your government representatives. Link is in our bio! Another great way to support is attending your local city council meetings. If you want to see change, showing up matters, get involved, meet your neighbors.
