Pretender: Talking Heads, a power shoulder, lightweight drape. Painted horn buttons, contrast collar, and a bespoke printed silk lining with words by Oscar Wilde. Menswear-inspired classics refined with a feminine touch, carrying the signature of Common Hours. Made from Italian wool and available online in limited editions.
The Lyric Dress, crafted from featherweight silk cotton milled in Paris, and featuring the lyrics to ‘Pictures of You’, most famously performed by The Cure.
The lyrics were written by hand on the dress pattern to perfectly wrap around the body, a process that took over 8 days to complete. The fabric was then hand-embroidered by @chanakya.in artisans in India for added texture and depth, small details to surprise and delight.
Available online in limited editions.
A man’s suit, redefined with sharpness and restraint. The ‘Pretender’ blazer, worn with the matching ‘One of the Fellas’ strapless dress: best-selling Common Hours signatures crafted from Italian wool suiting featuring printed lining with words by Oscar Wilde.
The finishing touches: the making of the Common Hours x @abbeylee capsule collection, launching later this year. A keyhole glimpse into a deeply personal world, romantic, provocative, audacious and restrained.
@abbeylee and CH founder @amberkeating_ working on our collaborative limited-edition collection, launching later this year. The full capsule will feature fabrics from exceptional mills worldwide. One such fabric, a custom floral print, features carefully selected quotes by Clarice Lispector, the Ukrainian-born Brazilian novelist and Abbey’s favourite author. It takes over 45 days to mill at a heritage mill in France, which has been running since the 19th Century. Captured at the CH headquarters.
Collaboration with skilled artists, artisans and heritage mills has always been a part of Common Hours. We extend this spirit to our work with @abbeylee , with whom CH founder @amberkeating_ shares curiosity and a love of art, cinema and literature. Each piece in the limited-edition collection is deeply personal, crafted with attention to detail in exceptional fabrics from notable international mills. Captured during fittings in Sydney. @amberkeating_ quote from Super Creators, the March issue of @10magazineaustralia .
