Exciting community sessions planned for May! 🌿✨
We kicked off the month’s collective creativity at the @thelateshows on the 8th with a drop-in facilitated by @caplan.acts and @laramcf_art .
Next up is *Mindful Creativity by the Sea*, led by Nicola @nicolablackart , a chance to slow down, connect and create together by the coast.
We’ll then round off the month with the beginning of a new series developed in collaboration with @girlswhowalknewcastle : *Sensory Walks*, exploring the senses, nature, creativity and shared experience through gentle crafty guided walks.
Meanwhile, our @ouseburnfest Pavilion team are hard at work planning open design and imagination sessions on the 27th and 31st of May. These sessions invite the voices of people who live, work, visit and play in the Valley to join the conversation and help shape how this gathering space could take form.
Connect, meet your people, find joy in creative nature crafts, and get involved 🌱
Looking forward to sharing these moments with you all!
Join the nature creativity!
We are popping in 51 Lime Street @ouseburntrust for the @thelateshows on 8th May from 6pm for collective nature crafts and conversations! 🌱🧑🎨
Pause, drop in, take part, create and contribute. 🤝
Join in crafting with handmade paper made in community at @wildrootscommunitygarden last weekend, paint and print with botanical inks and get creative with nature prompts.
You can leave with your unique piece or choose to add to our collective tapestry that will grow through shared action throughout the night. 👀
No requiered skills are needed to take part!
See you there! ✨

A GATHERING SPACE IN WOODS is taking root for the Ouseburn Festival 🌿
and this is your invitation to take part!
Shaped by many hands.
Built from waste and grown materials.
Guided by care, creativity, and community.
We’re co-creating a temporary woodland pavilion in the Ouseburn Valley: a space for gathering, making, sharing, and connecting. More than the structure itself, this project is about the process: coming together to imagine and build a space that weaves together our skills, knowledge and shared care for our environment.
We are so excited for what's to come:
• hands-on making with natural + reclaimed materials
• skill-sharing with makers, doers, and local groups
• collective creativity + experimentation
• connection to each other and the land
• a playful, meaningful challenge
🌱 Are you a local community group already tending to the area?
We would love to hear your voice, knowledge, and experience. Let’s collaborate and shape this together.
🤔 Are you an individual looking for a way to get involved in something local and creative?
Want to expand your environmental impact or learn new skills?
Or just fancy getting stuck into something fun, collaborative, and outdoors?
Let’s explore how spaces are made in community through shared knowledge, care for the environment, and collective empowerment.
DM us @commonc.co or get in touch to join, collaborate, or learn more 🌿

What if the spaces we gather in were shaped by us?
Something is beginning to take shape as we move toward the Ouseburn Festival this year 🌿
We are building something together: Pavilion of the Commons 🤝 with a series of open, community-led skill-sharing moments.
Together, we’ll create a small, temporary pavilion in the Ouseburn Valley’s woodland: a shared space for gathering, workshops, and connection during the festival.
Rooted in hands-on making with natural materials, this is a chance to explore how we relate to one another, and to the surroundings we’re part of, holding care for both people and multi-species communities.
How? We’ll find out together.
This is all about the process, and less about the outcome. 🌱
💡We’re gathering a collective of doers, makers, and curious minds.
🔨 If you’d like to be part of it, find the form in our bio or send us a DM for more details.

Do you ever pause… just to reflect? 🌿
Looking back on our first chapter, we’re feeling deeply grateful. In just over 3 months, we’ve shared 10 collective gatherings and nature craft workshops, connecting with a beautiful growing community ✨
Together, we’ve explored what it means to slow down, to notice, and to connect, through creative nature crafts, shared-making, and learning from one another along the way 🍃
And behind the scenes… some new exciting threads have been growing 🤍
We’re beginning to weave new threads of connection, collaboration, and shared action within our collective.
What’s next?
🌱 Seasonal Nature Crafts will continue - now hosted by community members, sharing passions, skills, and curiosities
🌱 New hands-on projects to learn, create, and connect more deeply with nature
🌱 Opportunities to care for and work with the beautiful resources around us
This is just the beginning… and we’d love for you to be part of what unfolds 🌼

What a magical day we've had today! ☀️
Sun was shining
Birds were singing
Trees were moving with the breeze
Spring was filling us with joy
And our shared time brought peace
and a subtle feeling of belonging.
It was great to welcome new and familiar faces around the table and spend time connecting through creative and mindful nature journaling.
We found joy in the simple act of getting together.
We extend our gratitude to you for choosing to spend this time in community.
See you again soon.🌱
