We've brought in a bunch of vinyl from our good label friends @unseen_worlds@nyegenyegefest@hakuna.kulala@cascine , albums from @daniel.aged & @kraejiyaeji , and of course new / limited / classic editions of the @rvngintl / @freedomtospend / @beatsinspace catalog. maybe a few other hidden gems in the bins. ;)

today is the last day we’ll be open for a good while, not sure exactly what the far future holds but as for the near future…. we have one more in store event to gather folks together in the commend~verse 🌌 celebrating the new release by @iv_act , he’s gathered some friends for an immersive, visually and sonically rich show. there will be a few copies of the album here for you to take home 🥲
it’s hard to express how deeply felt your gratitude and warmth has been in these last two weeks. the massive outpouring of support is critical to our needs to help tie up the loose ends as we close for awhile 😘

a beautiful, bountiful gathering in celebration of @strugglinstrugglin and his album ‘pitch pine’ out now on cassette and digi. it’s moments like these we will miss, and hope can return to in the future 💙
the new new album ‘cloud holding’ by @iv_act is out today, and we are welcoming bryce and a few friends to celebrate the new release march 1st. it will be our last event in the space before going on hiatus, so please come and soak it up while u still can. it’s all of you in the community who have helped make commend what it is ✨6 ~ 8pm tuesday, march one 🥲
we’re closing commend’s doors for awhile on tuesday, march 1 to take a moment of reflection ahead of reinvention. against all odds we’ve tried to maintain through a myriad of factors, but we are feeling the cumulative / residual effects of all too strongly in this moment.
for the next couple weeks, we’ll keep our normal 12 ~ 8pm, thursday through sunday schedule, with two final days on monday, february 28 and tuesday, march 1. our strugglin’ commend there cassette release show is still on for friday, february 25, and we have another special closing day event to announce next week for tuesday, march 1.Â
starting friday, february 18, all items at commend will be on sale for 40%, with already discounted items on sale for 75%, until we close. yes, that will include everything in the bins, on the shelves, and on the racks, excluding any commend or rvng, or rvng related, product.
we are so fortunate to have had this special space for so long, and are so grateful for each and every one of you who helped keep commend going.
pitch pine by strugglin', the latest installment of there, commend’s ongoing series of music recorded beyond but inspired by the communal efforts of rvng intl.’s lower east side space. available for pre~order now, ahead of its feb 25th release.
recorded between april and june 2021, the seeds of pitch pine were nurtured by a morning routine during which felton improvised playing just after waking up, using different tools to craft the semi-lucid flow of sound. on his walk to work shortly after, felton collected artifacts from the familiar environments he traversed as voice memos.
while felton had no preconceived plan for these diaristic documents to form a total body of work, pitch pine takes on a complete form, the compositions tangling together, unpruned of imperfections and sturdy as such.
a close~collaboration between sound a form was undertaken to bring ‘clay bodies’ to life. five musical contributions composed in response to four, one~of~a~kind ceramic sculptures.
in addition to the new beanie, here is our beloved squiggle logo on a wavey, flo blue, crewneck sweatshirt. the sizing runs quite true to size, if you prefer a comfy fit, aim one larger ;) screen printed by @beezerprinting
