ROYAL MARINES YOUNG OFFICERS 2025 - THE REGAIN 💪 At week 21 of training, the Young Officers face the 4th and final challenge of their Bottom Field Pass Out: The Regain. Already hanging on by grit after: A 30ft rope climb The assault course in under 4 mins 30 secs A 200m fireman’s carry in under 90 seconds All done with 21lbs of kit and a rifle. …..they must now prove they can regain their position on a rope - a crucial skill for crossing obstacles like rivers and ravines in real operations. It also confirms they are ready and able to take on the Tarzan assault course later down the line. The regain isn’t just a technique. It’s a test of calm under pressure, upper body strength and raw determination. Another milestone in forging the commando spirit. #RoyalMarines #CommandoMindset #BottomField #Regain #YoungOfficerTraining

384 Troop taking on their first abseil! 💪 Recruits stepped off for the very first time as they prepare for their final exercise in training. This essential skill is taught by the elite Mountain Leader Branch - specialists in Arctic and mountain warfare, as well as high risk reconnaisance tasks. 🏔️ Over the coming days, the troop will also learn: River crossings Scaling ladder drills Roller haulage techniques for moving heavy kit and weapons up steep cliffs. Another step closer to earning the green beret. #royalmarines #ctcrm #greenberet #commando #commandoethos

Bear spoke with Hunter Company and several recruit troops about resilience, determination, and the importance of never giving up. Before leaving, he left a powerful message on our new Chaplaincy wall: “Courage, kindness, and never give up!” Words that truly embody the Commando Spirit and continue to inspire recruits and staff alike. #RoyalMarines #CTCRM #CommandoSpirit #NeverGiveUp #Leadership #Resilience

Our new Ice Climber Mural! ❄️🧗 Statement by WO2 Richard Davison, the driving force behind all the mural projects at CTCRM:   With the completion of the new ‘Ice Climber’ mural at CTCRM, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who made this inspiring project possible.   My thanks go first to the Commanding Officer of Support Wing, whose vision and understanding provided the foundation for this initiative to move forward.   We are especially grateful to Dodd Group for their generous support in covering key costs, enabling us to bring the project to life.   I also extend appreciation to the CTCRM Unit Institute Fund for generously helping to part-fund the project.   To the dedicated project team—thank you for your tireless work behind the scenes. Your commitment and coordination were vital to the mural’s success.   And finally, a special thank you to Mr. David Griffin of YouCannotBendit Art Services. His exceptional talent and relentless effort transformed our concept into a striking visual reality.   This mural is more than just artwork—it is a symbol of collaboration and shared purpose. Its success is a reflection of collective effort, and a true example of teamwork at its finest. @youcannotbendit @globeandlaurelmagazine @rnnavyfit @royalmarines

A striking new mural honouring one of the most iconic moments in Royal Marines history has been unveiled at the Commando Training Centre, Lympstone, Devon. The artwork depicts the famous image known as ‘The Yomper’ — Corporal Peter Robinson advancing towards Port Stanley during the Falklands conflict, a Union Flag proudly attached to his radio aerial. The original photograph, taken by then–Petty Officer Pete Holdgate while deployed with 3 Commando Brigade in 1982, has since become a powerful symbol of the campaign and of the Royal Marines’ unyielding spirit. The mural, painted by former Royal Marine David ‘Griff’ Griffin on the exterior wall of Falklands Hall, is intended to inspire and motivate both current and future recruits as they undertake their training at Lympstone. In a fitting tribute, Peter Robinson himself attended the unveiling, which coincided with the King’s Squad Pass Out Parade for 374B Recruit Troop. His nephew, Marine Ryley Jones, received his coveted Green Beret at the ceremony, which was attended by proud families and the guest of honour, Lieutenant General Charlie Stickland RM. #RMfamily #RMA

Once a Royal Marine, Always a Royal Marine. 💚 Former Royal Marine Corporal Ken Ballard served our beloved Corps from 1948 to 1955, and this week, we had the absolute honour of welcoming him back into the fold. This week, Ken was invited to the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, where he not only toured the grounds, but was given the immense honour of taking the salute during a Troop Pass Out Parade, at 93 years of age. But it didn’t stop there. To the sound of applause and surrounded by fellow veterans, Ken was presented with a replacement for his long-lost Naval General Service Medal (Clasp: Malaya) mounted, engraved, and delivered with pride. And in a final act of recognition, Ken was awarded Honorary Membership of the Royal Marines Association, joining the ranks of brothers who served before, with, and after him. Ken also served 35 years in the police force, a lifetime of public service. An inspiration to us all. Welcome back, Ken. You’ve never been forgotten. You’ve always been one of us. #RMfamily #RMA #OnceAMarineAlwaysAMarine #RoyalMarines #VeteranFamily #CommandoSpirit
