Huge shoutout to @comictom101 for covering the AB20 situation and featuring Comicmania after we shared last week what was happening with the damaged copies hitting stores tomorrow. Seriously appreciate the support from one of the biggest voices in comics. 🖤
For everyone asking what happens next:
For the last several days, Comicmania (and other retailers) were told by Lunar NOT to pull or destroy any copies. In fact, the communication we received from Lunar essentially amounted to: “You can sell them as is while we wait for DC’s official resolution.”
We’ve JUST NOW received an update. It is OFFICIAL that this issue will move forward with a SECOND PRINTING rather than a recall. That means these damaged copies releasing tomorrow are STILL the original FIRST PRINTINGS.
\\Second prints will feature an updated title logo coloring to clearly differentiate them from the first printing copies and will be released on June 3rd//
So yes — these books will still be on our shelves tomorrow AS IS with the manufacturing defects.
As for grading: there has been a LOT of misinformation floating around online already. After personally speaking with @cgccomics President @mattnelsoncgc , it’s important to clarify that DC has yet to reach out to CGC about this issue, and CGC has NOT made any official statement or grading policy regarding these books yet. In fact, CGC hasn’t even physically seen the books at this point and is still evaluating the situation internally.
We’ll continue updating everyone as we hear more. Appreciate everyone being patient while this unfolds in real time 🙏🏼
