44km and 2860m elevation gain over 5 days, the Inca trail was the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life.
Setting out, I wasnโt sure I would succeed, or even be allowed to start the trail because of my disability. According to all the guides, porters and rangers, they have never seen anyone complete the Inca trail on crutches, and there were many whispers about what I was doing on the trail.
Thankfully our guide with @llamapath had confidence in me and made sure it was possible for me to get to the end.
While there was a lot of struggles, pain, crawling, scooting, a couple piggy packs, and a few tears, entering Machu Picchu via the sun gate was an experience I will never forget. Though, the journey was more important than the destination. For me the highlights were the mountain landscapes, the flora and fauna, learning about the culture of the ancient Inca and locals and just breathing that fresh Andean air.
Endless love for @doranadam for putting up with my ambitious dreams.
Best honeymoon ever.
Hello ski season!! โ๏ธ
Skiing has always been a part of my life. I grew up skiing with my family in Ontario and ski racing with my friends. Skiing is what drove me to move out west, and begin exploring the mountains.
After my accident, sit skiing brought me the opportunity to travel the world and race against the best of the best. I was fortunate enough to be able to compete at the World Championships and the Paralympic Games less than 4 years after my injury.
It was been such an honor to represent Canada in the sport that I love. While stepping away from competition is bittersweet, Iโm excited to ski for fun again. At the end of the day, I ski because I love it.
Though Iโm sad to not be racing at Milano-Cortina, Iโll be cheering on Team Canada from back home!
Elfin Lakes by bike, thanks to the Bowhead RX for making the alpine accessible.๐๐ป
