Born in North Carolina, raised in Michigan and now based in LA, Colyer’s sound is inspired by each place he’s called home. A multifaceted musician, producer, and songwriter, he’s collaborated with artists like Ethel Cain, Medium Build, and Stephen Dawes.
His most recent work, Scratchers, gives listeners the feeling of unearthing an album that their dad made and never released. Rooted in timeless songwriting and studio recordings of the 60s and 70s, Colyer brings Dad Twang to life through a landscape of tape hisses, dry acoustic guitars, wall-of-sound orchestral moments, and earnest storytelling. This EP is the soundtrack to your highway desert dreams.

This release is meant to accompany you on that long commute to work, on a road trip out west, or as you’re pouring your morning coffee. When you’re thinking about what the hell you’re doing where you are. When you’re thinking about getting into some new hobby. When you’re having a drink on your front stairs. When the pace of life is blurring any real decision you may want to make. Or when you find someone who stops the carousel from spinning, then gets on it with ya.
These songs are a reflection of my life, but I hope you see yourself in them. The thing we’re all looking for, from time to time, in the music.
