Due to the recently imposed lockdown, we are hitting the āpauseā button on the market this weekend and every Sunday until (we hope) Sunday 6th (subject to Government guidelines). Obviously this is very disappointing but Londonersā safety is paramount right now, so until we get this monster under control (again) stay home, shop online at some of our traders online stores, order a yummy takeaway dinner from one of our local restaurants, grab a pint to go from one of our pubs and ALWAYS shop local at our independent storesā websites... A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to bring back the worldās greatest outdoor market (no exaggeration) to you and this weekend on Sunday 5th from 8am to 2pm, we shall see the new look, hopefully Covid safe, Columbia Road Flower Market. Anyone who recognises these hectic jam packed scenes above will appreciate how this has been no easy undertaking to reconfigure the market somewhat to comply with safety regulations and still bring you the vibe you know and love without the hustle and bustle. We are considering Sunday as a bit of a soft launch to see if this is all do-able. We know youāve all missed it and weād love nothing more than to welcome everyone back with open arms and pink peonies, but we are urging locals to pop by and say Hi and support the market and local businesses and would like to encourage those further afield to enjoy local markets on your own doorstep for now. This isnāt personal, we just need to take baby steps to get this right and avoid unsafe overcrowding.
