Truthfully, this Mother’s Day hit different with my grandmother not being here. I had to keep it all together, after all, I have children of my own, who were eager to celebrate Mother’s Day. How do you balance that? Can someone tell me? Greif…. It definitely comes in stages. One minute I’m crying the next time laughing. The one thing I can appreciate were those soft moments that led to a strong bond and everlasting love . 💕 You know …… Motherhood is often found in the quiet moments gentle touch comforting embrace lessons passed down and the unconditional love It helps shape who our children become. At Colour Their World, we believe every child deserves to grow up surrounded by love, representation, confidence, and stories that remind them they belong. Because when children feel seen, valued, and nurtured, they bloom beautifully into who they are meant to be. While the average age of a first period is around 12, puberty is beginning earlier for many children AND YET conversations around menstruation are still often delayed until after a child has already experienced it. Menstruation education should begin before the first period, not after. That’s why July 11th we’re hosting an age-appropriate Nurse led menstruation workshop for girls ages 8–13 at the Audley Recreation Centre creating a safe, educational, and empowering space to learn about body changes, hygiene, cycles, confidence, and self-care. ABOUT LAST NIGHT The celebration and recognition brunch hosted by the @congressofblackwomenon Congress of Black Women of Canada was an event I’m thankful I didn’t miss. It was a sight to see, all of the chapters come together…Dressed to impress I might add From postgraduate scholarship awards to the prestigious Kay Livingstone Award, it was a powerful reminder of what happens when Black women are seen, supported, and celebrated. I actually should’ve here and listening to the inspiring words from Itah Sadu @adifferentbooklist_ . She’s a wealth of knowledge. Nicole Waldron @victoryspeaks7 did not disappoint. She carried the afternoon with elegance and flare.
