We're Kele & Christina, a husband and wife design duo and the creators of Colossus Mfg - a California based design studio that focuses on residential and commercial design and branding.

When we bought this unassuming 90s house, it was an ugly blue box — a blank slate in every sense.
Moving from a 1920s Spanish Revival with incredible bones, this was a completely different kind of design challenge. But also our wheelhouse.
We’d just wrapped up an @HGTV series on blending design styles, so we leaned into that same approach here. Knowing this would be the home we raise our boys in for the next decade, we wanted something that felt layered, personal, but maybe more than anything, built to last; trends, styles, and materials.
We kept coming back to two influences:
* Mid-century design
* Mexican surf style (part of what pulled us closer to the California–Mexico border)
Those became the foundation—two distinct directions fused into one palette. Terrazzo, terra cotta, breeze block, graphic colors & textiles, & tropical botanicals. As a design studio, designing your own home is a different animal. It’s where everything you’ve been drawn to wanted to experiment with finally gets a chance to come out. And we called on some of our favorite friends and artists to help us create some of the feature elements & custom pieces throughout.
With 3 insanely active boys, we’re deep in a full season of life, but being able to have this space and share it with our kids, family, and friends—is everything.

Last week we said goodbye to a dear friend, contractor, and one of our absolute favorite people, Nick Silveira. He was hard-working, honest, dedicated, hilarious and never without a smile.
In case you didn’t know, interior design and construction can get pretty stressful (massive understatement). Managing timelines, budgets, people, and everything else that that goes with it, is never not chaos. Having a partner that brings joy to the process is everything, and that was Nick.
I just wanted to leave this collection of photos here; a handful of the projects that we brought to life together. We absolutely wouldn’t be where we are without his hard work, commitment and laughter. His loss is a tragedy to the family and the community and is going to be a tough one to recover from.

This year we swapped turkey for pulpo as we spent Thanksgiving in Ecuador and the Galapagos on a once in a lifetime trip. From the cloud forests outside of Quito to the wildlife of the Galápagos Islands, swimming with hammerhead sharks, sealion pups and penguins, it was a nature that’s beyond anything else we’ve experienced.
Many many thank yous to my parents for giving this experience to our family. Absolutely unforgettable. A reminder of all that we have to be thankful for. 🐢🦈🌎🏡

Sedona and the Grand Canyon were a welcome reset this week. Nothing more inspiring than a jaw dropping sunset and sunrise over the great expanse of Mother Nature. 🌎

With 3 boys, our mudroom is the most trafficked room in the house and inevitably a junk dumping ground 😂 So getting it organized felt daunting.
We had built in some cabinetry during the original remodel, so we had closed storage, yet somehow that wasn’t enough. With things strewn about everywhere, we needed more hooks - and easily accessible organization. Plus, design-wise it just felt a little lackluster.
For the overhaul, we added matte black hardware and hooks from @plankhardware , installed grasscloth wallpaper and created a huge bulletin board for all of the kids artwork/schoolwork. Game changers for giving everything a place! Now we can actually sit down to put shoes on, and not feel like a complete clusterf*#!

After our 📺 HGTV series aired, we received a flood of project requests from people who were seeking help, but realistically couldn’t afford bespoke design services. 🫤 This didn’t sit well with us.
Truly personal design is an arduous task, one that is NOT inexpensive or scalable. But as we’ve seen from the rise of generative AI, the possibilities are incredible.
Which is why last year, we decided to dig in with the intention of making great design more accessible.
Project Helios blends our personalized design services with proprietary generative AI tools to deliver a lightweight, visually driven design process that enables individuals to both see their vision come to life, and to actually execute that vision.
We are searching for several clients open to working with us as we refine our process. For those that do, we’re offering a significant discount on our typical design rates. 💵 And separately, as this initiative grows, we’re seeking technical team members, collaborators and partners.

If you basically do laundry every freakin’ day, you might as well make it pretty. 💚💙 Since this nook is just around the corner from the boys bathroom, we extended the same palette by adding a coordinated blue/green @fireclaytile backsplash, built in @shinnokifrombriggs walnut cabinetry for storage, and topped it off with some fun matte black @plankhardware . We paired those details with a hunter green @samsung washer and dryer tucked under a quartz concrete countertop…for a laundry room that brings us a hint of serenity amongst endless folding sessions 🧺🫠
There’s A LOT of splashing 💦🌊💦 that goes on in a bathroom shared by 3 boys. So to appease both an aesthetic and functional need, we tiled all the way around the tub to the edge of the adjacent wall. We collaborated with @fireclaytile on this fun bathroom project, and used their 2x8 hunter green and flagstone matte tiles vertically stacked to create a pattern that is fun and playful while being totally durable during the inevitable bathtub splashsplosions 💦🔫🛁
