Last week, we brought together our supply chain partners for our annual conference. The event explored the direction of the business as we continue to deliver fit out projects that combine structural adaptation, technical expertise and high-quality Cat B delivery - underpinned by a simple belief: knowing buildings inside out. Swipe to see what our directors have to say about it. #supplychain

Following the successful completion of Levels 3 and 4 at 1 Vine Street for @workplacesbythecrownestate , Collins Construction has been appointed to deliver a further Cat A fit out on Level 5, including terrace and WC areas (5,670 sq. ft). This marks our fifth project for the client, following previous fit out works at Sackville Street in 2024, 11–12 Pall Mall and Regent Street in 2025, as well as the recently completed phases at Vine Street. This repeat appointment reflects our Knowing Buildings Inside Out approach. By delivering multiple phases within the same asset, the team has developed a detailed understanding of the building and its constraints, turning these into opportunities and enabling informed advice on programmes and delivery strategies that maximise the building’s footprint and performance. The images shared show completed works on Level 3, which mirrors the floor plate and scope of works being delivered on Level 5. Works are now underway, and we look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses. We’ve been appointed to deliver a 20,000 sq. ft full building refurbishment in the City of London, spanning a complex structural transformation through to a high‑quality fit out. The scope includes a steel‑framed rooftop extension, sensitive stone façade replication, a double‑height plant room and the reinstatement of a historic architectural feature, alongside a new roof terrace and landscaped green roof. This project will rely on careful sequencing, value engineering and close collaboration across the design and delivery team to ensure modern office requirements are delivered while respecting the existing structure. Located in a prominent position on the edge of the City, the project will require a careful balance between preserving the building’s heritage, meeting modern functional requirements, and maintaining programme certainty. #refurb

With a wingspan of up to 1.2 metres, Ellie the Hawk is an impressive member of our team in the City, helping manage the day to day operations. Working alongside her handler at Safeguard Pest Control, Ellie is regularly released to patrol roof and building areas before returning to the glove. Her presence as a natural predator discourages pigeons and other pest birds from settling or nesting, preventing issues before they start. It’s a low impact, preventative solution that helps us manage live city sites responsibly, using nature rather than intrusive measures to protect roof spaces and surrounding areas. It’s great to see Ellie in action on site so far, and clearly making an impression on our QS, Hannah Willis. How are others approaching bird and pest control on live urban projects? #refurbishment #hawk

We’re pleased to have been appointed by a repeat client to deliver a £6m Cat A fit out across three floors of a live building, including significant reception, lift and retail works. The appointment builds on the team’s proven experience of working within occupied, operational buildings. Drawing on that experience, a carefully sequenced programme has been developed to manage risk, minimise disruption and maintain continuity throughout the works. The scope includes a refurbished reception with a new façade and glazing, alongside phased lift upgrades throughout the building. Structural alterations will be delivered within an occupied space at Level One, while Levels Two and Three will receive our full Cat A service, aligned with structural interventions to increase usable office floorplates. The project also includes extensions to ground-floor retail floorplates and associated façade works, all undertaken within a live environment. On completion, the scheme will provide three floors of modern, flexible office space, supported by upgraded infrastructure and an enhanced street presence. #refurbishment

Buildings are all about perspective and most people don’t get to see from this angle; they experience a space at surface level - the finish, the quality, the end result. We look at what sits behind it first. The structure, the services, the temporary works - everything that needs to be understood, coordinated and resolved before we can deliver the final environment. That’s why we say we know buildings inside out. Whether it’s an open courtyard or a constrained floorplate that sits at the centre of a project, understanding how everything interacts from the outset allows our teams to plan the sequence and coordination needed to realise the final fit out - ensuring a building not only looks good, but performs as it should. #refurb #fitout

We have been appointed to deliver an eight floor, 42,000 sq. ft, £25m fit out with complex structural refurbishment in London’s West End. The team has developed a carefully sequenced refurbishment programme that will lead seamlessly into a high quality Cat B fit out, including the transformation of the roof, which will provide a new social green terrace space. Demolition and temporary propping are currently underway and over the coming months, works will move into the internal structural alteration phase to reshape the building’s internal structure, creating open floorplates with glazed meeting rooms suited to modern office occupation. #refurbishment #fitout

For the past 12 months, our Project Directors, Divisional Commercial Directors and Commercial Managers have taken part in a leadership development programme designed to build high-performing leaders who can drive team alignment, improve project outcomes and support consistent delivery across our projects. Through a series of workshops and applied learning sessions, The Work of Leaders has helped participants develop a deeper understanding of leadership styles, communication, and how behaviour directly impacts performance on site and across teams. For each participant, it has been a rigorous 12 months - balancing project commitments while stepping up to the next level of their development - and we want to say a huge congratulations to all of them. Our business is underpinned by the quality of our people. This continued investment supports their growth, and in turn strengthens the teams around them and the projects we deliver. Congratulations to everyone who took part. #leadership #development

The Gherkin’s natural ventilation system is one of its most sophisticated engineering feats. It is inspired by The Venus Flower Basket, a deep-sea sponge that has a lattice-like skeleton designed to channel water currents for feeding and stability. Our fit out delivery across 25 floors of the building means we have intricate operational knowledge of how to make it work efficiently and effectively. Some of its standout features include: Spiralling light wells run through the building, forming its structural and environmental spine. A natural “stack effect” draws air through the floors, allowing the building to breathe. Automated windows respond to real-time weather conditions, supporting the HVAC system. Delivering within this environment demands more than standard fit out expertise, it requires understanding of how to: Protect airflow - ensuring partitions and layouts don’t disrupt how the building breathes. Work with geometry - circular floor plates require bespoke detailing and coordination. Maintain fire integrity - managing open voids and fire breaks with precision. Navigate logistics - delivering in a high-security, zero lay-down environment. Control acoustics - managing sound transfer across interconnected floors. In 30 St Mary Axe, each fit out was designed with specialist services to create a comfortable, workable environment, with some of the best views in the city. #fitout

How do you restore the unrestorable? At 63–66 Coleman Street, a small but technically demanding part of our scope – the replacement of heritage iron Juliet balcony balustrades formed from interlinking circles – became a defining feature of the project. Originally deemed unrestorable, our team re examined this detail in close collaboration with @emrysarchitects , leading a technical analysis to ensure it could be replicated, installed and maintained within a retained façade. Each application was tested and refined across multiple iterations, with close scrutiny of geometry, spacing, scale, materials and fixings. This went beyond aesthetics: we assessed every circle against guarding requirements, fall prevention standards and health and safety compliance, particularly as the motif increased in size and appeared in different locations and materials across the building. The final result is a complete integration of the circles throughout the asset, from a curved stone reception wall to terrazzo flooring, bespoke lighting, lift lobbies, planters, balustrades and a new rooftop terrace. Working in partnership with the architect, we delivered precisely what the client envisioned - a heritage feature restored, preserved and realised as stated in the design intent. #refurb #fitout #workspace
