I love before and after VFX posts, so I wanted to show you a few examples of some before and afters from my short film HELP (out now)! I’ll talk a little about each frame below.
First shot: This is my favorite part of film, the monsters face. We used CGI to enhance and remove facial features from the practical makeup done by the great @hmmmlily which you can see on top. It looks fantastic but to remove the nose and deepen the wounds we had to use CGI which was done by the great @srvfilms . He used a 3d scan of @_chrisherring face with lily’s makeup and he sculpted the removal of the face and tracked and animated that sculpt over the footage.
2nd shot: instead of using CGI for the spider, I decided to instead capture a spider, film him on a green screen at the right angles then release him and it worked! Tobey the spider was a diva to work with but he is one hell of an actor.
3rd shot: The film has a handful of full cgi shots that hopefully no one will notice but this is one of them. I wanted this shot of the garden gazing ball to reflect the world and establish the backyard. We originally shot it stable but it was boring so instead I decided to recreate the shot in cg and add the camera move and I think it turned out well!
4th shot: the blink and you’ll miss it hidden effects of all these short films I do. Here I had to add a cut that the monster got in the previous shot to help continuity. This shot was actually really hard to track and I had to write code for blender to figure it out. So please clap.
Happy to announce our short film “HELP” won a couple awards at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival! The audience gave us some love and gave us Best Short Film and @ebechs and I won outstanding writing for a horror short!
Really excited on top of that as Hell House our next short film got fully funded on Kickstarter this morning! So exciting news all around!
HELP Will release online sooner rather than later so stay tuned!
Seriously I couldn’t have done it without the amazing small but mighty crew that made”HELP” possible with a crazy low budget, I love them all

Hey everyone! I’ve launched a Kickstarter for a short film that has been years in the making called “Hell House” a horror short set in a church’s hell house, where a holy force arrives to punish a pastor for his sins starring @jimmycthatsme
Please check my linktree for our Kickstarter!
Me and @ebechs are very proud of this script and is our favorite one to date! So if you’d enjoyed any of our projects in the past or just want to support please give what you can now! Any little bit helps!
Here’s a breakdown of how we achieved some of our shots for our top 25 Doritos Crash commercial, “Free Horse”. For a full BTS video go check out my YouTube channel!
Sad news unfortunately “Free Horse” did not make top 3 in the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl competition but we are really grateful to be apart of the semi-finalists! We had a ton of fun making this and also congrats to the top 3!
1: On top is what we filmed and on bottom is final product. Fun fact we only could afford one soldier costume so we had the actors share a costume for each of these shots.
2: on top shows all the elements that goes into trying to build a realistic environment and all the assets you’d need to make it work. All CG was done in Blender and composited in after effects
3: here’s a breakdown of the closeups of the soldier shots and how many layers and details are needed to make a good composition that is realistic. The hardest part was keying the hair and I basically blacked out and took an entire 10 hour day keying out every shot in this project, my eyes were in pain.
4: the most impressive shot wasn’t that hard was just a simple Dana dolly move from the edge of the set. Then tracked and added the scene surrounding it. Okay it was more complicated than that but I only have so many characters
