@collective.objective is going to be working with the Lomography Simple Use Reloadable camera for its next round of cameras so I thought I would take one for a spin to see how it worked. The cameras come pre-loaded with Lomography's rebranded "Lady Grey". Not a lot out there about what stock it may actually be but a few notes found that it's been Fomapan 400 since 2017. Short notes here, pretty strong vignetting and lens blur at the edges (not as pronounced as a Holga) and the flash is better as a fill. These were all shot on overcast days (other than the ones at @chippedbasket opening...which show the flash at 1-1.5 meter distance). These were developed and scanned by me the same as I would develop Fomapan 400 in Rodinal with a 1:50 dilution for 11m. It might have been too long for likely 70°+ solution temp (I should have pre-measured and adjusted). Overall, if folks know what to expect ahead of time, these cameras could be used to make some interesting images. I've reloaded mine with labeled Arista EDU Ultra 400 (another assumed Fomapan 400 re-label) to see about the similarities and differences and to out the flash through the paces more. @collective.objective is still taking submissions (link in their bio) for folks interested in participating in the next round. Even though we sold out our first zine, we didn't generate enough revenue to buy everyone Leica's for the second round 😭 That's ok, we think we got an upgrade! Instead of Tri-X400, @lomography 's Simple Use cameras come pre-loaded with their labeled Lady Grey ISO 400 film. These cameras come with many of the same characteristics of a disposable but are reloadable. The flash also doesn't fire unexpectedly (or fail to fire, either, in the rest runs we've done) and we think the flash will reach farther. One of the fundamental tenets of this project is that it must be open-access to anyone and everyone to be able to participate. We supply the cameras, film, and a no cost option for developing and scanning. But you are also free to develop & scan yourself, or take it to your favorite local lab and spread the love. While we are inclusive of everyone and anyone willing to commit to a collaborative effort, we can only accept 10 applicants for the current project. Meet-ups will be held in the Denver Metro area. Our focus is on learning, intentional process, and acceptance. We value collective interest over individual interest, though we ARE interested in you as an individual. COLLECTIVE OBJECTIVE - Primary and secondary objectives accomplished. We sold every single photo zine. I am beside myself with pride and appreciation for all the people who came out last night. I’ve really tried not to speak for the group at all but I feel comfortable staying that all ten of us are so, so thankful. DENVER, CO - 10 artists from varying disciplines, of varying ages, backgrounds, and skill sets were tasked with a single prompt and what ended up being two disposable black and white Kodak cameras. After nearly a year in the works we are very proud to share our results with you in these images. Sometimes being a photographer can feel isolating and I crave connection! The connections I’ve made since joining @collective.objective in April 2025 have been a powerful spark in my life and for my creativity. I’m so happy I took the call to connect and create in this way with something as simple as a black and white disposable camera. This is one of my favorite photos I took during my time working with @collective.objective . The second photo is of my sister and I. We joined this project together in April of 2025 and it’s been amazing in so many ways. Our work will be published in a zine (limited quantities available so you should order now) and our photos will be on display at a free show on February 5th.
