On Native American Heritage Day we celebrate the beautiful culture of our Native Tribes here in Utah and across the Nation. Today we stand in solidarity with their sacrifices and recognize their hard work through the thousands of years they have been here.
Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to participate on the earthquake engineering conference panel. We talked about ways to better protect our communities from the devastation of seismic activity. Most deaths in the event of an earthquakes are due to unreinforced masonry and Utah still has a lot of reinforcement to do to be confident when the big one comes. I look forward to taking the knowledges I gained from this to the legislature to help keep Utah safe.
