The Design Concept for our #DavidsonCottage project is “Contemporary Cottage”. One of the ways we get to understand the look and feel of the home the client wants is to brainstorm words. The words “Warm”, “Welcoming”, “Comfortable”, “Light filled”, “Casually elegant”, “Urban Cottage” guided this design . In addition, taking cues from the exterior design and the location of the home in the heart of Davidson, the overall Design Concept is formed. Carefully curated images are used for the Design Concept Boards. These are visual representations of the “feel” and “Character” direction for the project.

I work closely with my clients and the architect to fully understand the design and flow of all the spaces. This home is on a sloped lot and the architect utilized the slope to come up with a unique staircase design. The cross section view helps with understanding this cool element. The floor plans get a thorough review and markup to make sure each space is utilized to its best potential.
