A fun evening at The Wilson Gallery this evening with Jenny Hughes creating textile responses to a selection of the museum exhibits. Obviously I was drawn to the green bugs ( in the absence of any frogs)slow mindful stitching. Great turn out and a very chilled atmosphere. Thank you let’s do it again soon 😉

Today saw the handover of my completed banner as a contribution to the Voices 2026 threads project creating textile images about belonging and I think this just about sums it up for me 😉nothing much else to say really. I look forward to seeing the final installation this summer 😃

Sashiko & Boro Mending Techniques These days we all feel the need to be a bit more resourceful and today’s Workshop Wednesday reminds us that make-do-and-mend can be super-creative and brilliantly inventive! Join artist and maker Ally Goff for a fabulous day of slow and meditative stitching, designing and forming practical mending just one stitch at at time! Our Sashiko & Boro workshop offers a mindful introduction and contemporary twist on the traditional Japanese mending techniques. Using a simple running stitch this class is suitable for every level. Working with indigo cloth and white threads we’ll explore basic stitching, pattern drawing using a 1cm grid, and use stencils to create a variety of decorative stitches to create an eye-catching decorative patch or pyramid purse. All materials are provided, although if you have your own sewing kit, please feel free to bring it along. 🧵Introduction to Sashiko & Boro Mending Techniques 🗓️ Saturday 21 March ⏰ 10am-4pm 🌈 £60-£55 (plus a fab deal for Attend with a Friend) 📍at Prema Arts Centre, Uley #japanesemendingtechniques #makedoandmend #creativestitching
