In April, nearly 20(!) rappers got on the same track together in the YYJ to celebrate this growing community, and that track is now done! One thing left to do, what do we call it? and what should the cover art be? Paradise feels like surrendering to the tension between intuition and seduction as only Ethel Cain could while averting eye contact with Yung Lean in a secret Wolf Alice warehouse show. Paradise is a freaky fusion of gritty industrial rap and dark electronic pop with scraps of metal and wisps of N āO. Daunting drums and neon guitar crowdsurf with catchy melodic rap hooks over warped synths that emulate synesthesia. Made in a manic sleepless state after PAPA! and Cole Jackson, in a shared state of aggressive apathy toward the sun threatening to dawn, shared a chance encounter and smoke in a dark hellish alley. Legend has it, one asked the other: whatās paradise to you?
