Welcome to COLDSTRIP. An open space for my journey into football kit & sportswear design. Inspired by my heroes at @sparkdesignacademy and experiences as a musician, DJ, and radio broadcaster, COLDSTRIP is a place where I can share my love of football, fashion, music, and mesh them all together. Is it a brand? Perhaps. Maybe one day. But it all starts now. May the battle commence.

JUVENTUS HOME CONCEPT KIT: BLACK & WHITE GRADIENT STRIPES This concept for the Juventus home kit blends tradition with a modern edge, using a white base and black gradient stripes to create a striking yet respectful homage to the club’s iconic look. Drawing inspiration from recent reinterpretations of Juventus’ classic black and white stripes, this design merges the club’s storied history with a contemporary aesthetic, showcasing Juventus’ status as a global football powerhouse with a diverse cultural influence. The gradient stripe pattern maintains the traditional Bianconeri look while nodding to the club’s historical roots with Notts County. It also celebrates the elegance of Italian tailoring and the influence of fashion in modern football. Soft pink accents appear on the adidas Trefoil and the current Juventus badge, a tribute to the club’s original pink kits worn in the early days of its history. The iconic adidas three stripes run down the sides, providing a subtle yet effective branding detail that fits seamlessly with the overall design. The back collar features the number “1897,” honoring the year Juventus was founded. The right sleeve includes “La Vecchia Signora,” the affectionate nickname for the club, while the left sleeve displays “Storia Di Un Grande Amore,” meaning “Story of a Great Love,” a tribute to Juventus’ beloved anthem. REFERENCE POINTS: Designing for clubs with a deep-rooted history, especially those with iconic striped kits, presents a unique challenge. The goal is to respect the club’s legacy while introducing innovative design elements that resonate with modern fans. Juventus, with its rich history and influence on the global football scene, has experimented with its stripes in the past, such as in the 2004/05 away kit or more recently in collaboration with the streetwear brand Palace. This concept, inspired by street culture and Juventus’ proud heritage, aims to celebrate the club’s cultural impact and modern relevance as a global brand. Stay tuned for more exciting kit designs and concepts. #kitdesign #conceptkits #juventus #juve @sparkdesignacademy

JUVENTUS AWAY CONCEPT KIT: BLACK & PINK STRIPES This Juventus away concept, designed in black with pink gradient stripes, blends elements of tradition with a modern touch. Drawing inspiration from the dark navy and shell pink gradient stripes of Juve’s 2004/05 away kit, this concept strikes a balance between the club’s heritage and contemporary style, incorporating design elements that reflect Juventus’ global appeal. The black kit features a white collar, providing a thoughtful contrast that represents the Bianconeri while also honoring the influence of Italian tailoring and fashion. Light pink gradient stripes accent the garment, paying homage to the original pink uniforms worn by the pioneers of Juventus when the club was first established. The iconic adidas Trefoil and the current Juventus club badge are centrally placed on the kit, both in pink to complement the striking gradient stripes. The adidas three stripes run down the sides of the kit, offering a subtle branding touch that complements the overall design. Depth is added to the piece with the back collar featuring “1897,” marking the club’s founding year. The right sleeve also includes the phrase “La Vecchia Signora” (“The Old Lady”), a beloved nickname for Juventus, while the left sleeve bears the words “Storia Di Un Grande Amore” (“Story of a Great Love”), referencing the club’s cherished anthem. REFERENCE POINTS: One of the greatest challenges for designers is finding ways to create innovative yet respectful designs for clubs with a rich history of iconic kit styles, particularly those known for wearing stripes. Juventus, with its deep heritage and reputation as a prominent football institution, has experimented with its stripes over the years, including with their 2004/05 away strip. With streetwear and nightlife in mind, the goal of this design was to elevate the cultural success and style that Juventus has achieved as a modern global brand. JUVENTUS 3RD CONCEPT KIT: PINK SHIRT & BLACK TIE This Juventus third concept kit honors the club’s rich heritage, youthful beginnings, and commitment to timeless style. Inspired by the club’s founding in 1897 by students of Liceo Classico Massimo d’Azeglio, the kit features a light pink color, echoing the original uniform worn by the pioneers of Sport-Club Juventus. Black accents and a central vertical stripe reference the black ties worn with the original 1897 uniform. This stripe also houses both the iconic adidas Trefoil logo and the current Juventus badge, blending tradition with modern design. The signature adidas three stripes run down the sides, offering a subtle take on branding while also nodding to the black and white stripes that define the Bianconeri identity. Additional tributes appear on the back collar and sleeves, adding depth to the design. The back collar features “1897,” marking the club’s founding year. On the right sleeve is the phrase “La Vecchia Signora”, or “The Old Lady”, the affectionate nickname for Juventus. The left sleeve bears the words “Storia Di Un Grande Amore”, meaning “Story of a Great Love”, a reference to the club’s beloved anthem. REFERENCE POINTS: Liceo Classico Massimo d’Azeglio, the Turin high school where Juventus was founded, plays a central role in the club’s origin story. The school’s pink colors inspired the original kit, and its culture of unity and community helped shape the club’s early spirit. From these schoolboy beginnings, Juventus has grown into a global football powerhouse, fueled by the pride of Turin, its people, and the legacy of those who first established the club’s identity. Blending style, history, and identity, this concept kit captures the spirit of Juventus. It’s a celebration of elegance rooted in tradition, of resilience shaped by legacy, and of unity carried forward by generations. This concept kit bridges the past and present, reminding fans of where Juventus came from and where its future is headed. LIVERPOOL HOME CONCEPT KIT: DEEP RED This Liverpool home concept kit, designed in deep red with gold accents, captures the essence of the club and city’s past, present, and future. Drawing inspiration from the deep red used in Klopp-era New Balance home kits, which marked triumphs in the 2019 UEFA Champions League, 2020 Premier League, and 2022 FA Cup, this concept kit pays homage to the club’s multiculturalism, championship pedigree, resilience during the global pandemic, and the unshakable self-belief Scousers are known for. The kit features Liverbird-inspired wing and flame gradients along the sides, incorporating body mapping and mesh details to enhance breathability and comfort. The iconic adidas three stripes are pointed to resemble the talons of the Liverbird, symbolizing the speed, strength, and determination of the club and its players in pursuit of every trophy. Both the adidas trefoil and Liverbird badge appear on this kit, nodding to the club’s successful partnership with adidas during the era of Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes, and Ian Rush. Traditional tributes to the 97 victims of the Hillsborough Disaster continue on the back collar, while an additional “FOREVER 20” tribute on the front honors the late Diogo Jota. REFERENCE POINTS: Once stuck in the ashes of poor ownership and struggling to reclaim its identity as a dominant, title-winning side, Liverpool was reignited by Jürgen Klopp’s appointment as manager in October 2015. “We have to change from doubters to believers.” The Klopp era delivered the most multicultural squad in the club’s history. Diversity playing a key role in its success with players like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Roberto Firmino cementing themselves as club legends. This foundation has set the stage for Arne Slot’s current tenure as manager, shaping a promising future for the club. The musical heritage of Liverpool also provides an important cultural reference point for the kit as bands like Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Beatles, and The La’s all respectively left their mark in music history. LIVERPOOL AWAY CONCEPT KIT: ORANGE/DARK NAVY This Liverpool away concept kit in orange and dark navy pays homage to the youth, exuberance, and success of the club’s 2000/01 Treble-winning season. Channeling the famous Reebok kit Liverpool wore during their 2-1 triumph against Arsenal in the 2001 FA Cup Final, this kit is reimagined under an adidas direction. The trefoil or equipment logo is omitted in favor of the impactful adidas wordmark. This simple choice strengthens the focus on Liverpool’s traditional club badge, now prominently placed at the center. The Liverbird’s legacy continues in the design, with the front and back sections of the garment featuring an ascending, angular “feather” graphic/gradient, symbolizing the ascension of youth players transitioning to the senior team and their drive to dominate the pitch. The adidas three stripes are additionally pointed to represent the talons of the Liverbird, grasping and capturing the League Cup, FA Cup, and UEFA Cup that season. The traditional tribute to the 97 victims of the Hillsborough Disaster will continue on the back collar of the garment, with an additional “FOREVER 20” tribute on the front honoring the late Diogo Jota. REFERENCE POINTS: The Liverbird aesthetic pays homage to the swiftness and tenacious attacking style of Gerard Houllier’s 2000/01 Treble-winning squad and the ascension of youth academy prospects like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher cementing their place in the first team, flourishing in their roles for years to come. In the case of Michael Owen, the garment additionally signifies individual success with him scoring 16 Premier League goals, winning the Ballon d’Or, and the spirit of maximizing the peak of one’s potential to elevate your club to championship success. LIVERPOOL 3RD CONCEPT KIT: PURPLE The Redmen are no strangers to the color purple in their kit history. With nods to the deep violet of their New Balance 18/19 away strip and the lavender of their Nike 23/24 third kit, this concept features wing/flame gradients along the sides of the garment. Paying homage to the mythical icon of the Liverbird, the darker areas on the sides are designed to allow for body mapping and mesh details, enhancing breathability and comfort. The iconic adidas three stripes are pointed to symbolize the talons of the Liverbird. They represent the speed, strength, and determination of the club and its players in grasping every trophy and championship title available. The traditional tribute to the 97 victims of the Hillsborough Disaster will continue on the back collar of the garment, with an additional “FOREVER 20” tribute on the front honoring the late Diogo Jota. REFERENCE POINTS: While not a color traditionally associated with Liverpool FC, I chose purple to celebrate the themes of community and the rich live music heritage that Liverpool has to offer. My love of The Beatles has inspired both my experiences in the music industry and my fandom for Liverpool FC. The choice of purple partly stems from the Jacaranda tree and its long-lasting violet-colored flowers. The Jacaranda, which is also the name of a renowned local music venue, serves as a key reference point. This venue supported the early careers of acts like The Beatles, Gerry & the Pacemakers, and many current independent musicians, with a history spanning over 65 years. Purple also pays homage to Liverpool’s rich and storied nightlife. As of 2025, the city has earned the Purple Flag status for 15 consecutive years from the Association of Town and City Management, recognizing Liverpool as one of the UK’s safest and most vibrant night-time economies. The final reference point is a personal tribute to my love of indie, punk, and alternative music, with Echo & the Bunnymen being one of the most successful and influential bands to come out of Liverpool. Check back soon for the next installment in this concept series. #kitdesign #conceptkits @sparkdesignacademy #liverpool
