🎻 A violin made to travel. Our short film 'Folk Who Roam' follows the making of a community violin, built to be played, passed on, and shaped by the people who carry it out into the Peak District landscape that inspired it. This violin’s journey is only just beginning, and now it’s ready to roam; to trace a legacy of community, access and synergy across our English landscapes. As we launch the trailer, we’re opening up the next chapter: musicians can now borrow the instrument and become part of its story. Watch the trailer. Follow the journey. Be part of what comes next. Tickets to the Premiere in Sheffield on Sunday 17th May available via link in @folkwhoroam bio. Four years on from the start of this journey, next week we’ll be launching the trailer for our FINISHED film, Folk Who Roam. 🎬📽🌿 Back in 2022, Emma H had just arrived in Sheffield and was still finding her footing, while Emma C was searching for a new film project that could say something meaningful about our relationship with the English landscape. After being introduced by a mutual friend, the project quickly began to take shape, and we were soon joined by the brilliant traditional musician Rosie Butler-Hall and ethnographic photographer Cat Vinton. What followed has been a slow unfolding across seasons, places, and many conversations. By following the making of a special community violin, we explored how music, craft, and landscape intertwine. The film is a call for a more open England – one where access and musical tradition can be shared more freely. We can’t wait to share the first glimpse of the finished film with you next week. Tickets for the Sheffield launch on May 17th, featuring a live performance from folk group Sāwol, are available now, link in our bios! 74-year old Rob Matheson not only refuses to stop climbing hard routes, but he also insists on attempting the kind of rare gems of trad routes that send most people scurrying off to find a fitting excuse not to jump on the sharp end. ‘The Bells, The Bells!’ is one such route, a perplexing and dangerous line winding its way up North Stack Wall at Gogarth in Cymru. First climbed by John Redhead in 1980, this E7 6b has a fearsome reputation that refuses to be diluted - a bit like Rob’s enthusiasm for hard climbing. Rob’s relationship with ‘The Bells’ is now a part of UK climbing history, having made a successful ascent in April this year - a legacy that will fire the imagination of future generations of climbers of all ages.   After the ascent, we were incredibly honoured to be asked to make a short film about Rob and ‘The Bells.' Rob didn’t really need our help in telling his story - his ‘Angry Pensioner’ YouTube Channel tells you all you need to know, and has almost a cult following. But we threw everything we had at the production in a fairly small time frame, with the very wonderful support of Pertex, Rab and DMM, and feel very proud of being able to play a small part in bringing Rob’s story to the screen. Hopefully a fitting tribute to Rob, with an ending that makes you think - ‘yikes, what’s next!?’ You can watch ‘The Bells’ over on the Pertex YouTube channel. Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially @charliewoodburn for bringing this to our door! And Rob, next time there won’t just be lawn mowing to do, there’ll be hoovering and dusting too! Meet @drniallmccann — adventurer, conservationist, and one of three men at the heart of Alpha. Tomorrow, the full film premieres on YouTube — telling the story of three men with life-changing spinal injuries who set out to cross Vatnajökull, the largest ice cap in Western Europe. 150km of shifting ice, crevasses, and whiteouts. No guides. No support. Just one rope linking them together — and a shared determination to prove what’s possible. 🎬 Alpha, a film by Coldhouse, supported by Berghaus Adapts, premieres tomorrow the 14th of November at 7PM GMT on our YouTube ❄️ #berghaus #berghausadapts

Alpha is a story of resilience, brotherhood, and the unbreakable human spirit. Following a big-screen debut and UK film tour with @kendalmountainfestival the film will be available to watch on our Berghaus YouTube from 14 November at 7PM GMT. It follows Ed Jackson, Niall McCann, and Darren Edwards — three men with life-changing spinal cord injuries — as they attempt to cross Vatnajökull, the largest ice cap in Western Europe. 150km of shifting ice, crevasses, and whiteouts. No guides. No support. Just a single rope linking them together — and a shared determination to prove what’s possible. One was an adventurer, one a professional rugby player, and one a soldier and mountaineer. As they travel across this unforgiving landscape, Alpha explores their individual stories and what it truly means to be ‘a man’ in the modern world. 🎬 Alpha, a film by Coldhouse, supported by Berghaus Adapts, premieres 14 November at 7PM GMT on YouTube. #AlphaFilm #Berghaus #BerghausAdapts

'Local Legends' Series Episode Four, feat. @hamminator2017 . A true wild spirit, full of tenacity and positive energy, Lindsey taught us a lot as we followed her from Ouray Ice Festival to the High Sierra to capture her story. 'Local Legends' Series, Episode Three, feat. @jonasschild . The ice has changed. It’s not like it used to be – less stable, less certain. The classic lines that professional ice climber Jonas Schild grew up on in the Bernese Oberland are harder to find now. But that hasn’t stopped him. He’s just learned to adapt. For Jonas, a good day isn’t just about ticking a route. He climbs for the feeling. The quiet. The cold. The way everything else disappears when he’s on the wall. The kind of day you’ll still be thinking about decades from now. Watch the full film over on @mammut 's YT Channel. 'Local Legends' Series, Episode Two, feat @franziska_schoenbaechler . You’d think a frozen couloir would be the last place to feel calm. But for Franziska Schönbächler, it’s the only place that makes sense. No noise. No pressure. Just the sound of her ice tools, the cold in her lungs, and the quiet reminder that she’s doing this for no one but herself. Franziska is still in the competition world - where every move is judged, every result matters, and the pressure to deliver never really lets up. Even at her best, she wondered: Was I climbing for me, or for everyone else? Watch the full episode over on @mammut 's YT Channel.
