Piper Maru (TO)
Piper Maru from Toronto, provides “high end hardcore riffs at sensible prices” with their captivating take on classic hardcore. With an immediate slam to the face of meaty bass riffs and vigorous, pounding drums, each track unleashes a punchy impact onto listeners. They released their first EP “Most of My Friend Died in Space” in July of 2018 and most recently a single entitled “enough” in summer of 2020 with all proceeds from this release being donated to a range of organizations based on current needs in their community. Piper Maru is gritty and emotional with powerful, moody rants and yells and dissonant angular guitar riffs that shriek and squeal, tastefully seasoned with effects, catering the guitar tone to each track. They keep the aggression and intensity high from beginning to end with a constantly increasing energy level and no limitations. While Piper Maru’s ferocity is unrelenting, they are still able to create a dynamic form with different ebbs and flows by using tempo changes, a variety of guitar tones, and contrasting nuances in vocal performance. Piper Maru truly delivers a sonic beatdown like no other.
See the gang melt your face and knock your socks off at Wrecker Fest!
