Woven by Touch is an immersive installation by DECOL that invites visitors to experience not only sight and sound, but the quiet pleasure of touch.
By using 100% cashmere fabric, the work transforms a gentle touch into a digital trace that surrounds the visitor.
In collaboration with electronic textile artist Afra Sönmez, cashmere becomes a responsive surface: soft, sensitive, and alive. Each delicate gesture on the fabric is translated into real-time data, unfolding within DECOL’s visual and sonic universe. The space breathes with Cashmere’s natural color palette, forming a living digital weave.
Fluid particles and digital fibers echo the fine curves of cashmere threads, stretching and dissolving in rhythm with touch. Every interaction creates a unique visual composition—a fleeting “pattern of pleasure,” where the tactile sensation finds its digital reflection.

Snake and flower forms, woven from electronic textiles, draw from the snake’s symbolism in Chinese philosophy a figure of cyclical life, transformation, and return. This work is not only an encounter between form and sound, but a performative echo of history’s endless repetitions. Within despair, a quiet hope persists; within every ending, the trace of another beginning.

This artwork is about awakening and the tension between freedom and confinement. The inspiration came from a quote: Before waking someone, look where they will awaken. If they are to awaken in a dungeon, let them remain asleep. But if they are to awaken in rose gardens, wake them so they can experience the miraculous beauties!
The movement of the flower in this sculpture relies on the tension in strips that resemble prison bars. This structure creates a metaphor: the struggle to escape confinement reflects a desire to bloom. Each stretch intensifies the yearning for freedom, as the flower’s opening becomes a pursuit of its own inner garden.
To awaken in a dungeon is not to be bound by it. What truly matters is the strength of your longing to be in a rose garden and the depth of your will to break free.
Ultimately, artwork challenges the audience to confront their own relationship with time, resistance, and growth.
