Coeliac disease is a serious autoimmune condition affecting around 1 in 100 people in the UK. It is estimated that around 64% of those people remain undiagnosed, meaning over half a million people may be living with symptoms. These symptoms when persistent, recurrent or unexplained can mask coeliac disease and have a big impact on the day-to-day life. If symptoms feel familiar, encourage your audience to take our free self-assessment: .uk #glutenfree #coeliac #coeliac64 #coeliacdisease #autoimmune

IT’S INTERNATIONAL COELIAC AWARENESS DAY! And I thought I’d use today to join all the other amazing people with coeliac disease sharing their own diagnosis stories! 🥰 I was diagnosed over 20 years ago and things have come a long way since then. BUT 64% of people in the UK are still undiagnosed - which means we have to keep shouting about this and continue to raise awareness. If you think you have any unexplained symptoms: ❌ Do NOT stop eating gluten (you need this for an accurate test) ✅ Go to your GP 💉Ask to be tested for coeliac disease 🔥 Visit the @coeliacuk page for extra support and info What’s your diagnosis story? Share it in the comments to help raise more awareness!! 💛

Coeliac disease has been a big part of my life for a long time. Navigating it isn’t always easy, but I’m so glad I have my diagnosis to know exactly how to stay healthy. This coeliac disease awareness day, I’m joining @coeliacuk ’s campaign to raise awareness, so I urge anyone who thinks they might have a problem eating gluten to get tested for coeliac disease - it’s more common than you think and it could save your life! 🧡 #KnowTheFeeling

May is Coeliac Awareness Month, and I had the privilege of being part of @coeliacuk National Campaign in 2024 to help raise awareness. As today is International Coeliac Awareness Day, I am resharing my story which I know will resonate with many. Coeliac Disease is more common than many realise—affecting 1 in 100 people in the UK. Shockingly, only 36% are medically diagnosed, which means nearly half a million people are living with the disease unknowingly. The long-term consequences of undiagnosed Coeliac Disease can be serious, ranging from malnutrition to increased risks of certain cancers to infertility and other autoimmune conditions. It took me 12 years to get a diagnosis. And sadly, that delay isn’t unusual—many people go undiagnosed for years, often being misdiagnosed or dismissed. This is my story, and I share it to raise awareness, encourage others to listen to their bodies, and push for better recognition and diagnosis of this life-changing condition. #celiac #coeliacdisease #coeliacdiagnosis #coeliacstories coeliacuk

Know the feeling? This International Coeliac Awareness Day, voices from our community are coming together to share their experiences of symptoms, diagnosis and living with coeliac disease. From stomach cramps and diarrhoea to fatigue and brain fog, many people know the feeling, but may not know the reason. The video also highlights the invisible load that can come with constantly thinking ahead, checking labels and navigating life gluten free. Right now, 1 in 100 people in the UK have coeliac disease, yet only 36% are diagnosed. That means 64% are still living without answers. A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this video to life and raise awareness throughout May, including @beckadlington for sharing her experience 🧡 If these symptoms feel familiar, take the free self-assessment today: isitcoeliacdisease.org.uk #InternationalCoeliacAwarenessDay #KnowTheFeeling #CoeliacAwareness26 #WhatsYour64 #CoeliacUK #CoeliacDisease

The gluten free diet is important, but living with coeliac disease can affect much more than diet alone. Dr Rosie Satherley highlights the importance of research, support and community in helping people manage the wider impact of coeliac disease.
