Today Maple gained her wings… this was not how her story was supposed to end… we needed more time with her.. 6 years was not even close to long enough… life is so unfair, and for Maple, she DESERVED to run and play on the lawn again this summer… she put in the work to learn how to walk again over the last 6 months… and her body let her down. Just like Ava, Cancer took her sneaky and fast.. This morning @codey_stmartin and I said goodbye to my Heart Dog and Daddy’s best girl…. We are shattered… there truthfully aren’t words for how much we loved her, how much everyone loved her and how much this loss has truthfully devastated us. We just wanted to say thank you to everyone for following along with her rehab story.. and cheering her on, and loving her… it truly meant the world. Thank you as well to @touchanimalrehabilitation for all of their hard work with Maple’s rehab as well as to @cambriananimalhospital for their love and support.. Xoxo- Maple’s mom and dad 🌈🐾

Last season near Revelstoke, we were involved in an avalanche that forced us to take a hard look at our decisions in the mountains. For a long time, we debated whether this moment belonged in Résumé or if it should be buried in the past. After many conversations within our group—and with the support and guidance of avalanche professionals and people who have lived through similar experiences—we felt it was important to share. Not to glorify the incident, but to be honest about the mistakes we made and the lessons we learned. Everyone walked away from this incident, and there were no victims. We recognize how fortunate we were. That reality is exactly why we believe this story matters. If sharing our experience helps even one person think twice, ask a question, or make a different decision in avalanche terrain, then it’s worth telling. 🔑 Lessons learned: *Create a safety plan with group before ride *Establish group and radio channels before ride *Never ride on exposed terrain above others *Never gather in runout zones This was a huge wake up call. A reminder to backcountry users: * 📖 Take an AlARE or Avalanche Canada course. Visit their websites for classes and more information. * 🗣️ Start the discussion with your riding partners, your group, certified avalanche instructors, local avalanche centers, and by sharing your own experiences. * 🤝 Promote avalanche training and standardized curriculum for motorized vehicles.
