The AI race has been turned upside down, with OpenAI presumed to be at the losing end of this development. To get a balanced narrative (😂) I asked ChatGPT what it thought about losing its advantage and the exasperated sigh when it speaks of the impact to its moats really gets me 😅
My take? Unless OpenAI drops an open-weight model while keeping a closed model that significantly outperforms DeepSeek-R1, they could be in serious trouble. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
That said, I’ve tested DeepSeek and compared its chat capabilities with ChatGPT, and honestly, it underperformed—mostly due to “server issues”. Now, the question is: was that just a scalability problem from a sudden surge in the number of users, or is the model itself struggling 🤔

Introducing the Audio Overview, a brilliant tool that takes your documents and sources and transforms them into a podcast-style audio experience.
